Hawker Sea Fury fully native

People,

The same group that released the stringbag have just released the Hawker Sea Fury in fully native format for MSFS.

Still downloading, so I can't comment yet. I just wanted to share this. I'm pretty excited!

After my first 2 or 3 flights, I like it a lot. It is pretty full-featured, flight dynamics seem about right, OK sounds. A nice freeware product that I will fly often.

The Canadian roundels on the RCN version needed correcting back to the period RCN roundels, which I did right away. I also found that skins from the old Flying Stations plane fit this one. I Upscayled one of my own P3D skins to 4K and it looked great. Had fun flying it to Shearwater and wishing we had an addon for the old base. I'm sure the repainters will jump on this one, but you can easily adapt the Dutch, Cuban, and other skins that were released for the old plane to this one.

Thanks DSD!

Thanks for the info, Priller ! I'll try it asap.

On a side note, I can't understand why developers upload a new plane with many pictures, but not a single one of the virtual cockpit. Reminds me of the X-Plane.org trauma....
I'll try to post a picture here at least.

Here are a few screenshots showing the cockpit and the folding wings.
The amount of clickable things in the cockpit is limited, but all essential things are there for quick simple flights, including cold&dark startups.
The sound in the cockpit is quite nice, at least at idle (I couldn't fly yet, just a quick startup to take the screenshots).
The sound from outside is not so nice to me... sounds like a first world war aircraft, kind of. But again, I haven't touche the throttles, so maybe it sounds better at higher RPMs ?
I haven't seen any switch for night lighting in the cockpit yet.

Canopy can be opened :)

And wings are folded upon cold&dark start, and can be unfolded with the lever on the right of the seat.

In my message above, I made a comment about the external sound that reminded me of a WW1 aircraft, while mentioning that I had not had the opportunity to push the throttles into high RPMs yet.
In reality, the aircraft sounds much better at higher RPMs, so my initial impression described above was wrong :)
The video below will show quite nicely how the plane looks, sounds, and flies:

I made the external canopy glass slightly more grey and it is more showing. Does anynoby know the file with the internal glass scratches?

Thanks for all the kind words everyone! Very humbling to see you all enjoying it so much :D

Just a few things to address some of the comments that I've seen:

1. As a few of you have noticed, it IS compatible with the original flying stations/BZ textures - I'm really excited to see some liveries popping up! :D
2. We've tried our hardest to make the FM as accurate as we can. I think the headline numbers are accurate (it rolls as quick as it should, it's as fast as it should be, it takes off at the correct speed, it stalls at the correct speed etc.) but I recognise the engine in-particular needs work - this is a learning process for all of us on the team so bear with us on this
3. similar story regarding the interior textures - I've never used Adobe Substance Painter before, so it was a good opportunity to start! I'm refining them as we speak to take off some of the wear... I agree it's a little on the heavy side. This is also why I didn't post screens of the cockpit when it launched - I'm not quite as proud of it as I am the exterior!
4. Sounds are a tricky one - we've "borrowed" sounds from a whole bunch of different Centaurus sound packs, and we think in terms of sound samples this is probably as good as we're going to get it without going to Duxford and recording SR661 for real. I think there are improvements that can be made with how the sounds are delivered though...
5. The canadian scheme was traced in 8K over the original FSX one... apologies for the incorrect roundel! Feel free to shoot the correct roundel over and I'll push it out with the next update.

Please keep supporting us! It means a great deal and we've got some really cool ideas coming in imminent updates.... working RATOG pod anyone? ;)

Redmill, thanks to you and your team for this awesome port over! Love it when folks do fully native MSFS versions. Between this, the Stringbag, and the Duck, I'm really having fun now!
