Well, my repaints for the Alphasim Hudson seem to work quite nicely in FS9 too, including all the ones I uploaded already for FSX.
Here's a few more I'm currently working on, including an already uploaded update to 'Ypenburg'. The rest to follow soon..eh...tomorrow.
 
Jankees, the Rnzaf Hudson roundels are wrong!! Sorry! The blue is correct, the red in the middle should be the same blue colour. Only the fuselage roundels had the yellow ring.

edit; it's the hudson SJ-F I'm talking about. ZX-Z looks about right.

These kiwi Hudsons are causing me nightmares! All kinds of roundels can be observed on these aircraft, and sometimes you just can't tell. In this case however, I have a reasonable pic of the original:

According to me the inner circle is clearly darker than the outer circle on the fuselage, and thus another color, so I painted it red. I also have a color profile, showing the inner circle to be red.

The roundel on the wing is not so clear, but this pic:

does show a ring round the roundel below the wing (and a different color inner circle on the fuselage), so I kept that as well.
As for the upper wing, I reasoned that if they overpainted all the other roundels in kiwi blue, why not the upper ones as well? I'll keep looking for a good view from the top with yellow circle, but I'll grant you that I have no evidence for that (yet?).

Unregard. It works !! All the other times I've tried to install a repaint that said FSX, the texture files wouldn't work. This time they're bitmaps and work nicely. I'll quit assuming things. Thanks Jankees, the repaints are beautiful.

for the other times, the FSX texture files are usually in DDS format, which FS9 doesn't recognize. You can use DXTBmp to convert them to BMP's, which FS9 does recognize. If you need more help, just ask.
 
Yes its true that the kiwi roundels were not all the same. UH-F has the RAF roundels, but the bottom and top wing did not normally have the yellow rings.Some of the first hudsons to arrive did have them but they were later overpainted.
Its hard to tell with the B/w photos, most hudsons though later in the war had the red center changed to blue. It does look like that the roundel center looks litte darker in the photo of SJ-F.
 
well, here's a shot of NZ2001 from slightly above, and lo and behold, yet another variation of roundel: yellow outline, but no white circle....
It seems anything is possible...including yellow outlines on the wings. The search continues...
 
Thanks JanKees, when I was a few years younger I did read the books by K.Norel. I can't recall which book it was, but one of them was about the Dutch 320 Squadron.

"Vliegers in het vuur", I remember that one..eh..three, it was a trilogy if I remember correctly, one even had these Hudsons on the cover, didn't it?

Ok, here are a few more WiP shots of kiwi Hudsons. I hope to finish them tomorrow, ZX-Z is ready, SJ-F is almost ready, and YZ-R still needs a bit of attention. I do believe I've covered a fair amount of different RNZAF roundels, there is one other type that I want to try, but that's going to take more time...if you like more Hudsons that is, I still have plans for at least 10 more..
 
Thanks for the advice and offer to help converting the DDS formats. I'm looking forward to ALL of the Hudson repaints you want to do; getting tired of then is akin to me getting tired of my favorite ice cream. Ain't gonna happen.

hi there Jankees...they all look good, I suppose you've got it right re the roundels issue. Only thing is the camo color of YZ-R and SJ-F though Heres a link to a color photo of YZ-R in the air force museum....click here . See the green, its lighter and more green and the blue is also lighter as well. Another one ..here. These photos are all I could find so far of it.

Again, NZ Hudsons are a hodgepodge of colours and markings. My pics weren't that good and only showed portions of the aircraft, taken with flash, so I assumes that that was the cause of the lighter colour. I did my repaint with 'standard' foliage green and pacific blue, but I'll see if I can lift the colours of your pics, OK?
 
They are all wonderful Jan! How I wish they'd modeled a turret-less version though so we could have all the nice L-14's that survived the war ( and the WWII-era civilian ones)

Do the best you can Jankees,you've got it right, its foliage green and pacific blue. Often they faded into lighter colors overtime due to the hot sun down under.

I lifted the blue off one of the pics you posted and the green of a detail picture I had myself...
I'm planning to let SJ-F be dark, and YZ-R light, how's that?

And Rob, they did model a turretless version (Mk VI), see the second pic.
 
I've uploaded the whole bunch, but under FSX. Don't worry, they're all in BMP format and work perfectly in FS9 too. Happy Flying!
 
That was pretty quick Jankees, uploading them! Looks fine to me although you could have lifted the green off one of my pics .
What paint program are you using? I've just acquired Paint Shop Pro 8 second hand and will be trying my hand at painting with all the features that are offered by PSP8. Got abit of a learning curve to follow here..bit uphill though but am finding out by trial and error.
 
I'm mainly using Illustrator, with occasional forays into the world of Photoshop (I did all my P-40's on that for example). The learning curve, well, just keep at it. My first repaint took me over a month, now it's quite a bit less, excpet for the kiwi birds off course... As for the green, I had a very clear picture of the green, so thought I'd use that. If you're still not happy, I can always do a special version for you if you like?
