• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Is It Vettel Or The Car?

And now, it's a matter of perspective.

1) Do you take a NASCAR perspective where everything should be even & by the book?

2) Or do you take a traditional F1 perspective where it's "sucks to be you, work on your car more for next year"?
This is how arguably Button & Andretti won their championships in a car that was head & shoulders above the rest of the field.

Apparently RBR found yet another tiny loophole in the book (As I'm sure NASCAR teams are looking for those too) where they managed to sneak in a bit of code in the mandatory ECU.
You are allowed to deviate 2% from the standard, and that's what they did. The best trick is of course that it's hard to replicate, and once the season starts, you are no longer allowed to change it so the other teams will have to wait until next year to apply the same trick, by which time it will most likely be banned!

And once everything is banned, F1 will hit a point to where it's good ol' "spec" racing just like here in the US with Indycar & NASCAR.
