It's always fun to see the look on the kids faces...

Good evening,

One of my favorite teachers did her favorite lessons today...talking about Coca-Cola and nutrition. She said that for the students who were drinking Coke, she literally saw their faces turn green.

It's amazing what a little Coke can do...http://www.snopes.com/cokelore/acid.asp

The teacher read that email and presented to her students as fact? If so, she is misleading those children. Coca-Cola is not a health food, that is a given, but it's not as toxic as the email would lead one to believe. Too much sugar is bad for anyone and the phosphoric acid will strip calcium from teeth and bones, but I think it's ok to drink one occasionally. Not every day and all day long, it's a treat and nothing else.

Stansdds,

She presented it as an example, not as gospel truth. She also had some FDA guidelines about the amount of "impurities" allowed in everyday foods, such as chocolate, popcorn, and coffee. She's just doing it to kind of goad the children a bit, but it's lot better than having them read The Jungle. I have to admit, that book came very close to turning me into a vegetarian when I read it in junior high school.

The Jungle was a ground breaking book and helped pave the way for setting and enforcing food safety standards. Reading can certainly turn one's stomach.

Coke is actually really good for you when mixed with rum. Bacardi Select works quite well as well as Myers's Jamacan dark rum.:mixedsmi:

my ex brother inlaw (dead now) drank nothing but pepsi,up to 10 a day,,he thought water would kill him.."fish go to the bathroom in water",,couldnt convince him water gets treated and filtered before it gets to the consumer,,,stupid guy,,,he made it to the 6th grade and decided he was above the school system so he stopped going,,,he couldnt read or write when he died at age 48..but my point ( i know im rambling again) he drank those pepsi's everyday and he had lost all his teeth by the age of 20

ps not only was he my brother inlaw later in life but he was my nieghbor and friend from 1968.....he may have been one of the dumbest people ive ever known..but he was also very kind and would bend over backwards to help you....until he became a "biker" that is.....arrrrgggggggg

I'm reminded of the old "hat" cure. Take a bottle of your favourite, put a hat on your bedpost. Take a drink, move the hat to the other bedpost. Rinse and repeat until you can no longer move the hat. At that point you are cured of whatever you had, but the cure may be fatal!

Apparently Mountain Dew has a pretty negative impact on dental health too. I saw a documentary on it a few years ago and it was pretty graphic in showing rotten teen in Apalachia.
