SOH-CM-2025
..since I last touched my paintbrushes, but I was too busy travelling the world. That hasn't finished just yet, but I did find some time today to try a few things for the first time in months. Felt good, actually.
I've been following the B-26 thread on my travels and Duckie has me drooling with his wonderful paintwork so far, so I thought I'd try a bit myself. Here's my very first attempt, using Duckies paintkit and Rick bare metal textures and a bit of my own stuff:

I started with bare metal, so that I can use it as a base layer later on. Still an early version, lots to do, but at least you know I've started..

then I bought the Just Flight Commando, because, well, it has props, and is cool and has lots of interesting paint possibilities. Jeansy has shown us already some of the possibilities, so I tried that as well:

here too I started with a bare metal texture. I didn't like the base textures that much, so I made my own metal here, what do you think, looks OK?

Unfortunately, this is where it stops for now, it's Italy next week, and a few more trips later, so it will be mid October before I can seriously start painting again. I need to produce a fix for my Beavers, and I've been eyeing the DC-6....

Jankees, you haven't lost your touch! Can't wait to see what you do with the B-26. I like the C-46 textures you've come up with. Look forward to seeing more when you get back.

What a sight for sore eyes.. :) Ad that Commando's looking pretty good too.. Really glad your travelling the world and havig a great time.. Hope it stays exciting for you..
Pam :)

Jankees,

Good to see you touched the paintbrush again, even if it was just to tease us.

I like both the Marauder as well as the C-46 bare metal paints you manage to "shake out of your sleeve".

I too bought the C-46. just because I LOVE vintage props. And she is soo ugly, she shows a lot of character.

Can not wait what you will come up with by the end of October.

Enjoy the travel

managed to paint a few more, relatively simple paints and upload them as well:

you'll find them, with the Wien Alaska paint, here, happy flying, and see you later!

Jan, great to see you back in action. These beautiful paints definitely have that Jan Kees paintbrush look.

I'm wondering if you'll take a request. I'd like to see the c-46 with its 1946 Civil Air Transport livery. It was really simple, and truthfully only a ruse for claire chenault's little band of anti communist mercenaries, but well, yeah. It's a part of history i'd like to see in the game.. From this one airline, Air America was born ( truth without exaggeration ) and from its pilots, Flying Tiger Lines was born ( yup, some old members of the tigers signed on with Cat.

I'm off to Australia for a few weeks, but maybe after I return? Do you have more (and better) pics, especially of all the chinese characters? ....and then there is the B-26 and the A-20 and now I see you want to get restarted on the P-61 as well!

I will find everything I can photo wise on the Civil Air Transport and have them ready for you when you return.. Not sure of what quality i can find, but i'll do my best..

Pam
