• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

Locked Out !

Mick

SOH-CM-2025
I've been locked out of SOH for the past several days. I would click on my link and just get "Server Not Found."

This morning I e-mailed Ian, knowing that he was in contact through his work on the library transfer and might now what was going on. He said he'd run into that, but he had more imagination than I did. He Googled SOH and found that we're now a .org instead of the former .com. I edited my link and here I am.

I wonder how many others are locked out and don't know how to get back in.

All of our e-mail addresses are on file here. May I suggest that the admins send out a broadcast e-mail to the membership advising of the change?

I also had that issue.
I asked on another site,& was helped there. 'Maybe not to our emails, but a posting by our admins on other sites would have helped, as most, if not all of us also look at other forums.

I e-mailed David to give him a heads up. He replied that when he clicked his link to SOH his browser automatically changed the URL from .com to .org; it seems that his browser is smarter than mine (Firefox.) So apparently this isn't an issue for everyone. But it is for some of us, so I still worry that some folks might be locked out and not know what to do about it.

What others have been doing is posting on either flightsim.com or AVSIM saying they can't get on SOH, so they are told about the change to the .org.

So... how come we switched from a .com to a .org anyway?

I'm sure there's a good reason, but what is it?

While the file library was transferred, a huge manual job, both sites needed to be up and running. While that was going on, there was a redirect on the .com site to the new site. Of course, as soon as the old site was taken offline, that redirect didn't work anymore.
