Lockheed P-2V7 Fire Bombers?

Thanks Bill. The flight model will reflect only the radial engiines. Although I could increase performance for the jet pods, and you could enhance the sounds to include jet sounds, I have no clue how to implement both in the same FM as they appear to be mutually exclusive.

That's ok Milton I think that the flight model you are working on will work just fine for both models, I thank you very much for taking time to help me on these it has lifted some of the weight off me shoulders. I am still looking for the info you need, I thought I might have a book with it but no luck so I'll keep looking.

More Info,
Milton I found a pdf that I will send to your email.

Thank you very much for that data.

As FS treats these as fuel drop tanks and uses fuel weight, I will increase the empty weight to add the fuel tanks' weight, and increase the capacity to compensate for the difference in fuel weight and retardant weight.

I greatly appreciate that you shared this data. Thank you

Not a problem. This is a project that I have been very excited about. It has been interesting to watch this come to reality.

Well, dependant on whats left that is needed, most the info is right here. If anything else is needed all share what i got but most of this is already spot on.

Ok I have got most of my gauges working now, only have afew more to get to work and a few more to build. Milton I have tested the flight model and I think that it is perfect but I would like to get some others to test it and see what they think if that’s ok with you. Thank you for help on this project, I will work on the nose wheel to make it better and more realistic. I will be doing more on the external model such as adding antennas and more.

Whatever you wish to do is okay with me. More eyes and more observations can be insightful.

I will hold off on having anyone testing until I get more done, you have more experience with this then I do and I really appreciate you taking the time to help me, I will learn a lot from listening to what others have to say than just jumping in and doing it. Thank you Milton for your wisdom and knowledge with flight Sims.

Ok I have most of my gauges working now, I am stuck on a couple now, I have engine 1 & 2 and gear hydraulic gauges and fuel quantity for left_aux & main, center, Right_aux & main. I can not get them to work and am not sure why, I have them key framed from 0-80 and have used the default animation names and still nothing anyone have any suggestions.:isadizzy::isadizzy:

For Fuel, this section needs to be setup for your tank configuration. I was not certain what you had when I did the FM so tell me what you need here:
[fuel]
LeftMain = 0, -9, 0, 1400, 0
RightMain = 0, 9, 0, 1400, 0
External1 = 0, -4, -2, 1500, 0 // For Retardant
External2 = 0, 4, -2, 1500, 0 // For Retardant
fuel_type = 1
number_of_tank_selectors = 1 // Is this correct?
electric_pump=0 //electric boost pumps?

I guess we need to add:

RightAux
LeftAux

Can you get me the proper coordinates for tanks in gmax and tell me the capacities of each?

Also, how many tank selectors do we need in the FM?
Do we need electric boost pumps?

For hydraulics, I have this in the FM:

[hydraulic_system]
electric_pumps = 0
engine_map = 1, 1, 0, 0
normal_pressure = 1000

Also I have the gear set as hydraulically operated:

gear_system_type = 1

Also, you might use a default hydraulic gauge to display on the panel as a side test to your gauge.

Hi Milton,

Okthis is what I got, two center section tanks at 700 gal each, two wing tanks at 700 gal eachand two Bombay tanks at 350 gal each that would be about 21,000 lbs of fuel. I am still working on finding ware the tanks arelocated in the aircraft. I love the internet sometimes and sometimes it isimposable to find what you are looking for with all the junk that people haveput out there. I am running out of info to get to complete this project, I needgood cockpit photos of all the gauges and photos of all the panels to make sureI get stuff right in the cockpit, such as gauge placement and just the gauges themself I have guessed to the best of abilities as to how the gauges should lookand work but that is it, it is a lot of guess work and very frustratingsometimes.

Thanks Bill. I have made those adjustments for the Aux and main tanks.
The bombay tanks I believe for the PV-7 firebomber were likely removed and likely not installed for normal ops to make room for the retardant. ???

I will do some research from here to see what I can find on the interior cockpit and gauges.
Do you not have a Pilot's Handbook or Operating manual?

If it were me, I would start a thread in the main forum announcing this project asking for help locating the things you need. SOH members have a wealth of knowledge, experience, and access to resources.

EDIT: Found some interior pics:

Thank you for the link, there are some good photos that I could use. I will do on the post in the main forum and thank you for the help. With help from you and others I will be able to get this project done.

You might ask if anyone has a Pilot's Handbook or Operations Manual as well if you do not have one. They have good descriptions of gauges and switches in them of all the panels and radios.

Ok will do, I forgot to tell you that I didn't have the Pilot's Handbook or Operations Manual. Thank you

The flags are visible when the indication is not active. For example, if the flag that has the up/down arrows on it is visible that means there is no glide slope information available. Is that picture the one you are going to use? If so let me know because I already have that same one modeled.

Hi Robert, I have made the gauge I am just trying to find the right xml's so I can animate it. If you have some xml's for this gauge that would be very helpful. So many gauges so little time. :icon_lol::icon_lol:
