London-Melbourne 2014: A Heads-Up for October

Scouting some fuel locations...

Moses was in search of one of his ancestors - a guy named Noah. That's Ararat where he's looking for some cubits or something

Thanks Robert,

I like adding that bit of realism to this challenge :biggrin-new:

Moses, if you find some additional fueling opportunities, let me know, as my humble DC-2 can surely use them.

For starters, the fuel situation at Jask is looking good. They promise to keep an oil barrel burning for navigation throughout.

Ah yes Robert ......

A clean and efficient office helps with productivity on the "Job".

Nicely done! :applause:,

Thanks Austin. A couple more things to change.

Interesting to note, I read the 247 was the only aircraft in the race that had any kind of direction finding radio installed. A fixed loop antenna.

As Robert is cleaning up his office, I am running a full checkup on my old graceful lady.

Some levers and control surfaces need tuning up.

I am hoping to take her for a test flight soon.

Wow! really up against it, I submitted my choice of aircraft for the L&M, but Miss Nelly, spelling I think, said no as she through me out of the office. Darn I thought a 747-400 would be ideal! no stop, fuel no problem etc. Well, anyway here is a photo of Dudley and I checking out an DC-3 for the race, but we are still shopping around for the right aircraft. Darn, sure would have like doing that 747 thing!

Hey All,

Hey there might be a modern category where the 747 can fly the friendly skies...

This will be fun...

Nice tid-bit there Kevin .... thanks for passing it around.

I was kicking around some last weekend ... looking for some old gauges ... and stumbled across this page at DC3 Airways' website .... don't remember seeing it before.

Sorry if it's a repeat, but I'm sure some you will enjoy.

They posted the routing as a Charter for use in FS2K or FS2002, but the attached History Page I found interesting.

Nice find Salt,

More stuff to read, I'm lovin' it. :jump:

I'd better make sure I don't get too distracted with all this great reading material :dizzy:.
Got to take my girl (DC-2 ;) ) from EHLE, it's home base, to Schiphol (EHAM) for final maintenace.
Have to make sure she's in tip-top condition for the race. :redfire:

Thanks Austin for the link. I might have read that before, cannot remember.
And, some really good gauges available on that site, for us vintage flyers.
