Maam b-25 ?

Crusader

SOH-CM-2022
I know there is a general compatibility fix on MAAM's web site for FSX but does it work reasonably well in Accel/SP2 ?

Rich

I guess it depends on how you define "reasonable." I've got it running on my very mediocre 4+y.o. P4 Dell and am satisfied. You will lose some of the views (nose, for instance) due to some limitations of FSX, but otherwise I think it performs well enough. Others' mileage may vary, of course.

Caveat: I last flew it under SP2, but have not tested it since I installed Acceleration.

It's only really designed for use in FSX RTM, but a glass "fix" has been done and is available. That and the use of some replacement prop textures and she does work in DX9 mode. She won't work at all in DX10, being an FS9 model.

None of the VC clickspots work, so you'll need to work around that and she doesn't fly correctly, but is perfectly flyable.

A few shots taken in and around Rackheath... FSX/Accel, WinXPSP3, DX9. The glass was fixed using "b25_fsxacgls.zip", the props were "borrowed" from the R4D FSX fix.

Good catch on the glass issue, Ian. I forgot how much time I spent monkeying with that and the props. I didn't know about those replacement textures at the time.

I had to go back to the FS2002 release version (I'm supposed to be a member of the MAAM-SIM beta team, although I'm seriously slacking recently) to do those screenshots, as I didn't have it installed.

Install the original one, then the polished metal and solid nose add-ons, then the FS9 update, then the FSX update, then the glass fix, then steal the R4D's props. But it did work in the end! ;)

They are supposed to be working on both the R4D and B25 native to X at some point, but I have no idea when or even if they will materialise. I've not heard from Bill for some time.

i fly it alot, it's not perfect, but it is briefing time. i am hoping they'll make good like they said they would and update it.

This is the b-25 that I am using in FSX http://www.b-25yellowrose.com/fltsim/default.htm

from this website for the Commemorative Air Force http://www.b-25yellowrose.com/home.asp works really great.

This is very definitely not aimed at you personally, but I have to say that I am seriously peed off that not only is that rip-off still using the MAAM graphics, but he's actually getting people to part with money for it. :banghead:

Is RCS panels even still in existence?

Ian P.

No question at all. The evidence is plain and was independently proven. Roy Chaffin used material that he did not have the right to use when creating his hash-up.

And you will *still* destroy the (rather delicate) Norden bombsight if you put a pintle mount machine gun in a perfect position to hit it... which is why the real aircraft equipped with bombsights did not have pintle mounted guns.

But ahh, who cares about reality, eh? The story I know first hand certainly doesn't match the one Chaffin spouted either.

:wavey: Maam B-25 is a Great Aircraft, little hit on FPS but not bad with just one flying, crank up about 9 in the air small hit but still fun to fly in Formations. :ernae:

Cheers !!
