• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Musashi found?

I'm "persuadable", in this case. I almost put it there first...

I always assumed that the waters of the Sibuyan Sea were shallow, being close to so many islands of the Philippines, etc., and for that reason wondered why the wreck of Musashi was never located. Turns out the ship is under about a mile of water.

This site has a map of where the wreck was found.

O.T. - In April 1983 we (USS Enterprise and Midway battle groups) left Subic Bay and crossed through the Islands of the Philippines by way of the Sibuyan Sea and San Bernadino Straight, the same path as the Japanese fleet during the battle that saw the sinking of Musashi. Always thought that was pretty cool.

This book was written by Gregory Fletcher, a TBM pilot with VT-18, who flew in that battle and was shot down while making a torpedo run on Musashi herself. I spoke to him about his book briefly after reading it, and even made a paint of his plane for the Vertigo Studios TBM. I posted a link to the story of finding Musashi on his Face Book, as this might interest him...

Interesting. I guess if I had Paul Allen's billion dollar debit card I would be out doing this kind of thing as well!
