• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

Going to spend some bucks on GE or GE Pro. I need some help deciding if the extra cost for Pro is worth it or not. The screenies look terrific either way so why is Pro 20 buck more expensive? Are there other addons as good?
 
I bought GEPro and it was nice, but I did not like the interface of it and AS6, so I returned it and just got GE2006 and love it..All I was after was better ground textures.That provided me with all I wanted...

So with GE2006 and Ultimate Terrain its great looking to me....:woot:
 
The biggest difference is that GE is a single set of textures wheras GE Pro allows you to generate a number of unique user-generated sets based on relative cloud cover then use the weather at a location on your flight to determine which is the most appropriate and install it. It interfaces with Active Sky if installed so you can use its real-world METARs.

Thanks for the info Harleyman. I can't afford to spend much money on FS but the UT I bought a while back and some good freeware mesh have made a huge improvement so far. I want the best bang for the buck so I want what will look good without other stuff I won't use. According to GE's site Pro claims to be GE with an ActiveSky interface as well as a little more of everything the basic has. I know that FS enjoyment is often individual but I thank you for your recommendation.

I need some more opinions folks before I buy! I hate returning stuff.
 
OK so Alastair you are saying that Pro is more customizable if you want the full effect including sky textures? I don't have that software and already have huge FPS issues with the clouds I use so now I'm thinking I can't really use Pro at least with the system I have.
 
What it does is to allow you the abality to save weather sets and those can be used in the sim..If you are having issues already with frames and performance You may be better off with just GE2006 .It has no real interface ,just the 4 season textures and it goes a long way to loosing those black leopard spots that we all hate....
