New F1 Super Licence

So they mentioned that there are only about 4 Indycar drivers eligible. I figure these are as follows:
-Montoya
-Bourdais
-Dixon
-Castroneves?
-Power?

Montoya, Castroneves, Dixon and Power.

Bourdais didn't get good results enough the past 3 years.

So Bourdais' previous F1 experience in Toro Rosso means nothing with the new rules?
You need experience with good results enough within the past 3 years. So yes, a back runner experience in the past is not enough.

With the new rules, even Michael Schumacher would not have been able to come back in 2010. Well, in that case Shumacher should have got a special agreement regarding his career.

But Bourdais didn't get good results enough in F1 to get this kind of agreement.

so what IS a super Lic and why does it mater?..is this just a way to make F1 drivers seem to be the world leaders?...i wish to remind...not many F1 or indy car drivers have had success in nascar..and dont tell me sam hornish has done well..he hasnt..at best hes a front runner in xfinity series...he out right stunk in cup...but i must give him credit for sticking with the stock cars.btw..when steve kinser came from the world of outlaws, every one said he would eat up the cup guys...he didnt..nor did his kid..and they were sent packin back to sprint cars...

atleast i was offered a ride in busch back in '83...

The FIA has overhauled its new F1 superlicence points structure which will now give credit to drivers who compete in touring cars, karting and other single-seater championships. The World Touring Car Championship, Germany’s DTM, the American Indy Lights series and the CIK-FIA karting world championships will now all contribute towards the 40 points drivers must accumulate over three years in order to be allowed to compete in Formula One.

The weightings of the other championships have also been revised. No championship will award more than 40 points, however the highest-ranked series will give that maximum the more than one driver.

Formula Renault 3.5 now awards more points than GP3, though still less than the FIA’s Formula Three championship. Japanese Super Formula, which features some of the fastest cars outside of F1, has always been given more points, yet is still rated lower than GP3.
Junior Formula Renault championships have also increased in importance, with the champion now receiving ten points instead of five.
The FIA has also confirmed the Formula E champion will be eligible for an F1 superlicence, although the series is not included in the points system. It will also allow drivers who earn enough superlicence points to qualify for F1 but do to immediately gain a drive to retain them for up to three years.

NASCAR only runs in the US (well, 99.99% of the time) and at least 90% of that time is run on ovals, and to be blunt, the cars are dinosaurs.
On the other hand DTM (a series I personally dislike intensely!) is almost as sophisticated (almost) as a Le Mans prototype or an F1 car.
And just a FWIW from me, how about some of the NASCAR hot shots doing some real Sprint car racing?
Wheel stands on dirt!!!! Out-bloody-standing!

I already answered to what you said in another thread :

This is not against NASCAR drivers, and I agree to say NASCAR drivers are not inferior to F1 drivers. NASCAR and F1 (or more generally open-wheel) are too much different to make a fair comparison. A good open-wheel driver will not necessarily make a good NASCAR driver, nor a good NASCAR driver will necessarily make a good open-wheel driver.

FIA and Formula 1 officials just don't want to see too young drivers coming directly to F1 anymore without having enough open-wheel experience.

Open-wheel drivers usually don't come directly to Sprint Cup. They often enter some ARCA, Xfinity or Truck Series events before that.

Formula 1 is considered to be the top of international open-wheel series. But before coming to the top, you have to gain experience enough at lower levels. This is what F1 officials are aiming to.

And before you whine, note that I wrote "is considered", because I think IndyCar Series is at the same competition level as F1, just not as technological as F1. :friendly_wink:

You need experience with good results enough within the past 3 years. So yes, a back runner experience in the past is not enough.

If this is the case, then Montoya should not be on the list either. Since he left F1, he has only had good results this season.

He will have points enough if he win the championship this year, or at least if he finish runner-up. The statement about '4 Indycar drivers being eligible' assumes that 2015 point standings will remain as there are now.
