I used to have the ability to press the "Print Screen" key and a file called ScreenshotXXXX.bmp would show up in my fs9 directory. I have seemed to have lost the functionality. I installed a new video card (went from Nvidia to Radeon if that makes a difference). I cant remember what add on gave me that ability (Active Camera maybe?).

It sounds like you've been using a screen-cap program to do that. FSScreen works in a similar fashion, but uses a different filename and only puts the bitmaps in the same directory as the exe itself. I don't know of any that automatically start when FS9 is running, without using a batch file to start multiple programs at one time (weather, FS, screen shooter).

I have Paint shop pro 7 & I press ALT+Print screen, then open PSP & select Edit > Paste as new image. I think the 'normal' M$ programmes work the same.

As Dev1 implied, just press the Print Screen key and a screenshot will be placed on your clipboard. You can then paste it into any image program you wish, MS Paint, PSP, or whatever and save the image file wherever you wish to.

Screenshot programs simply automate the second part of that, pasting the image into the folder in the format you specify in the program's settings. (E.G., as a bmp on the desktop, as a JPEG in a certain folder, any way you set it up.
They just save you a couple clicks.

I like ScreenShot Manager, freeware from FSBerlin. Their site seems to be defunct, but you might find ScreenShot Manager on one of the big download sites like FlightSim or AVSim. If you can't find it, send me a PM. There's no reason to pay for a screenshot program when there's excellent freeware available.

There's no real need for a screenshot program at all, since Windows has a screen capture functionality (Print Screen) and an imaging program (Paint) built in, but a (preferably freeware) screenshot program makes it a little quicker and easier.

I'm pretty sure the emb tool did this, you know that thing for adjusting lighting in the sim. I got annoyed as I would end up with two screenies. One where I wanted it from Mgrab (jpg) and another I didn't in the root folder from emb (bmp).

I believe you are correct. I am running emb but I think I recently overwrote the config file. Erggghhh. Thanks everyone. I do also have a registered copy of Fraps as well so Im not totally messed up. Ineed to go look at my emb.conf again.

Thanks,
Sean
