OT: Funny goings on at Hill AFB

I live about 30 miles from Hill AFB, but right underneath the approach, so I see a good deal of the aircraft that fly into Hill AFB. This primarily consists of F-16s and C-130s with the occasional C-17 or C-5. There is also alot of Apache and Blackhawk traffic from the Army National Guard post at U42 and KC-135 traffic from the Air National Guard post at KSLC. That sort of traffic is typical, and so the sounds of it are ignored.

Yesterday and Today, though, I have heard some rather different noises!
Deep, thundery roars yesterday were a flight of orange-and-white F-4 Phantoms flying in to KHIF...
Today, oddly quiet thrumming announced the presence of a V-22 Osprey...

both of these are very unusual aircraft to find around my neck of the woods!

I am sorry I could not get pictures!

who flies orange and white phantoms
Orange and white are usually "test Bed" aircraft. Ones that engineers bolt stuff to to see what effect it has on aerodynamics or to test new instrumentation, etc.

Several years ago I helped "demil" some orange and white Vipers from Edwards that were going to be used at the Tech School at Shepperd AFB.
