There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

Robin, your reply just make me think about that has been done for FS2002.
It was a moving train along the rhine river.Sadly I do not rember the name of the scene
and if it was compatible with FS 2004. I' m not sure but I believe that some developers did develop trains for FS2002 or FS2004

Yes even if static trains with steam locomotives would be a nice addition to postwar sceneries

The FS2004 CalClassic scenery for the Southwest USA has a train at the depot for Las Vegas. It's not a steam, but rather an early diesel with the center "headlight" that makes the thing look like it has "high cheekbones" when looking at it from the front. 
There are some trains I know of in the CalClassic German scenery as well, but I'm not sure what kind they are. Wolfgang, Tom, and the others who worked on that scenery did an excellent job of rendering some life into the scenery.
Same with Belgium. I believe there are some trains by the airports there as well, but I would have to check.
Golden Wings 3 actually had a steam train working as AI between two "airports" that you could follow. I think it was near Moline, but not sure.
Finally, I think there are library's by Dan French of trains and rolling stock that can be used to make scenery yourself with any program that allows you to use libraries. Most of these can be found at Flightsim and Avsim, if I'm not mistaken.

There's also a steam train in one of Bill & Lynn's other packages, I think it was the Travel Air 2000 that also includes a barn with the doors open at both ends so you can fly though it. It best fits into Golden Wings because to get the train sounds you replace the stock turboprop sounds with a replacement file that has the train sounds. No problem in GW in an era when there were no turboprops, but you might find yourself doing a lot of file swapping if you put in into a more modern or timeless sim.
Here's a question: I tried to reply directly to the post above but found that I couldn't control things like font size and bold text. The buttons are there, but clicking them had no effect. I could click the Bold button to unbold my text but as soon a I started typing again it came up as bold again. Likewise, the text size came up really big and when I changed it, as soon as I started typing again it went back to the huge size. So I decided to delete the post and found that there seem to be no provision to do that either. I had to leave the forum them come back into it to make my incomplete post disappear. I only got this post to look normal by posting it in reply to the whole thread, without replying directly to a particular post. Does anyone know what that's all about or how to prevent it?
Curiously, I just posted in a different thread and there was a delete link. So I come back here to mention it and nit appears that we can only delete a post after it's been posted, not if we abandon it before we post it. Not a problem. Still puzzling about the font size and bold text issue.

The most known is at Gisborne, NZ.
As Mike said, Golden Wings 3 includes two kind of vintage trains, which move as AI. As these trains aren't flexible, they are just suitable for almost straight ways.

I always thought that NZGS Gisborne airport is the only airport that has railroad tracks crossing the runway.
Turns out I am WRONG. There is an airport in northern France called LFAT Le Touquet Airport that had railroad track crossing roads, taxiway, runway and even the tarmac where you could get off the train stopped in front of plane to walk few steps to board the plane!!

In fact it isn't a race, but a Curtiss Jenny barnstorming shortly after having passed the train.
Aharon, your'e right. If I had the French train, I certainly would added it. Those which are available aren't suitable.

Can you create FSX scenery for LFAT with railroad tracks for use of FSX? I do not need trains but would need train tracks.

Here in Cape Town, at Ysterplaat Air Force Base (FAYP), I was part of a Shackleton restoration team, & we also built a Shackleton sim on a trailer, using actual seats, pedals, yoke & throttle quad, taken from the Shackleton that was the gate guard of the base. We used the Shackleton Project add-on, with Aeroworx freeware scenery for South Africa. Good times!!
