P3DV6 big dissapointment

I don't share Cees opinion and it would be interesting to get more feedback from him.

I have switch to V6.1 several month ago and here are my feedback :
- Performance is much better with the SAME PC configuration
- I own a lot of ORBX scenery and since they provided the basic Global for V6 (5 products...), I can use almost all my other V5 scenery (and they are looking great)
- "Live Graphics" tone mapping option is very powerful and I no more use any shader add-on

The issue I have concern
- the new day and light option in the effects file. Very difficult to tune to adapt the V5 effects
- the change of dawn and dusk from day to night breaking the scenery appearance
- SSR and SSAO options break Terraflora look... Just turn them off.

Other V6 users opinions ?

I'm giving this verdict with the sim 'out of the box', latest patch installed.
1.It's not stable, at least not on my system.
2.Graphics are horrible. Far too blue. There are night textures that pop up in a daytime environment?
3.Performance is poorly.
Long story short: this is a beta release at best.
BTW undoing the latest patch made the sim more stable, but it still has a tendency to CTD.

If only I had known,

Cees

So did you also keep V5? I have V4.5 and 5.4 that way, I can have both worlds. I don't care for having to have internet connection to play
like MS2024.......albeit not the same clarity as MS2000/2025. I am happy with what I have. Can't afford to repurchase what I have for P3D 5
for newer sims. I am 100% on retired income.

Blimey! I didn't even know V6 was out. Stopped with V4.5. Figured I had spent enough having bought every version up till then. Always went back to FSX & FS9. Hated the P3D interface. I wonder if v6 is the same.

I recommend V5.4 - that seems to be a sweet spot for me personally.

I also stopped at v 4.5 sensing it was the sweet spot and good compromise.

So what are the pros and cons if I were to move to v5? People say it is darker and a bit more fiddly with FSX portover planes and scenery.

I looked at a lot of v5+ videos before I decided to go with v4.5 and I didn't like how pale and washed out the v5 scenery seemed to be compared to what I saw in v4.5 videos. FSX aircraft are also better suited to v4.5 and lower rather than anything higher. I have been more than happy with v4.5 with Orbx Global Base, Vector and the main land classes. I also run Active Sky for P3D.

I am amazed at how the sim looks and performs and have frame rates triple what I was getting in FSX:SE.
