Pacific Fighters Install

I find this interesting as my experience with 1946 was different. It installed ........... eventually ........ took about an hour... and ran like a slug. I even went and purchased the Steam version which installed fine and dandy but still ran like a slug. Steam were very prompt with the refund.
Along with other issues I dumped W10 and returned to W7 64. Now I am happy.

My specs below.

IL-2 needs to be put in a folder outside of the program files or on a other HD to work properly. I use Win7 64 bit and have no problems. Have several expansions of IL-2'46 and all run great including VP modpack and BAT. Go to https://www.sas1946.com/main/ for more help and info. A great site for all things IL-2 '46. Regards,Scott

Pacific Fighters

My problem is simple: I insert the CD and nothing happens. I went in to try both "Autorun " and "Setup" to no avail. I'm running Win7

This rings a bell. You have to use file explorer and go into the directories and I think the install .exe is in a folder called 'A' or similar... Then it will install.

EDIT: - Sorry when you mentioned Pacific Fighters I assumed you meant IL2 1946. The above would refer to IL2 1946 - in order to get that running it will not autorun but you need to track down the file a.exe and run that.

I dug out my PF disc (which hasn't been used in easily 14 years!!!) It will not autorun either but there are two distinct install files and for me they both work at starting an install. Perhaps your disc is damaged.

Other than that I would recommend you try Steam and purchase of Il2 1946 which contains every addon under the sun is about $10. A steal imho - providing it works for you - didn't for me as described earlier. But Steam are good with refunds.
