Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

Q about SF8 F86

Inbetween finishing off scenery and sorting my installs , ive been enjoying the new F86 repaint by L'iguane. But there's always something about the model that catches me out, raising the undercarriage before 150 knots. Now i could just improve my piloting skills but i do wonder if i could cheat and disable this feature, i just find it really tight between rotating and raising the undercarriage

I've never tried it, but will it allow you to raise the gear handle while rolling down the runway and have the undercarriage raise as you start your climb? I
realize you are very close to that 150 knots speed as you are lifting off of the runway!

Hi Ian,

I believe this is due to hydraulic system limitations of the real Sabre, SF8 did represent this system very accurately back in time. (overpressure due to air flow on gear & doors overs a given airspeed I believe)

Should you bust the 150kts limit, it will fail the gear hydraulic, with a warning/failure light coming on.
If you reset manually or switch to alternate hyrdaulic, the gear door will come up.
A right click and hold for 1s on the reset switch usually fix it and allow normal gear cycle again.

I've read stories about pilots who did that in real airplanes. They were not all happy stories!

In the dim and very distant past the SF8 was an allowed aircraft in the sim forums 'Round The Word Race' and it took some learning by pilots to make sure they got to the destination in one piece so that they could hand off the 'baton' to the pilots on the next leg. As well as the aforementioned hydraulic issues the fuel systems could bite you in the ass too as an incorrect change from drop tanks to mains could result in a flame-out and and a fight to get a mid-air re-light going which was not always successful. I piled several birds into the ground in training before I got the sequence right! Once you had it down pat though it was a wonderful bird to fly! I may have to see if I can get it to work in P3D v4.5 for old times sake.
