Question on moving vehicles in airbase facilities

swpierce

SOH-CM-2025
I would like to change the moving vehicles on an airbase facility to lighted trucks. Is there a way I can identify which vehicles in the facility xml file are the moving ones?

Look/search for a vehicle with coordinates that exactly match with one set of coordinates of a minor road. A real pain. May be faster to just substitute one unit at a time.

hi, I seem to recall that Richard Eikland's Mission and Facility Editor showed the placement of minor roads, and the vehicle locations? If so, this would be a quick way to check an airbase to see which vehicle goes where. When you open the airbase in the editor, you have to zoom in a lot (say 48x) to get a good bit of detail. Hobbit uploaded it here at SOH, probably under "Other".

HTH,

To make matters worse, vehicles can also be placed near a minor_road vertex and will snap automatically to that road in-game. So coordinates don't necessarily have to match exactly (but will be very close)...

Too bad we can't reverse engineer the facilities .xml files to a gmax file in one click; I once lost a gmax source file of an airfield through corruption (backups too, can you believe it?) and had to copy all the models' positions from it's facility file back into a new gmax file by hand. Talk about a real pain...
