RE: A bit confused about installing Real Environmental Pro

I'm a wee bit unsure of myself in the installation of the Real Environmental Profession. It looks straight forward but not sure on a few items.
My first question is: Within the INSTALL Folder there's 10 folders. One is labeled Sun. Within it are four sun bmp. files plus a CFG file(2kb) labeled 'suneffect.' Where would this CFG file be installed into FS9? I'm thinking it'd go into the folder that also holds the FS9 CFG. file but not sure.
2ndly,...there's three additional files labeled at follows: Comctl.ocx (ActiveX.control)595kb,......Scrrun.dll (5.6.0.6626) and MSVBVM60.DLL(6.0.97.82) Do these three need to be installed (where?) or just ignore them?
Any asssistance concerning the above questions would most appreciated.:kilroy:

I believe there is a handy installer program allowing you to customize the installation. It is the file called RealEnvironment. Try adding the suffix .exe to the file name if your computer does not recognize it as an executable.

The sun effect goes in your FS root folder.

Sascha

The 1 ocx and 2 dll files are for the auto set up. They do not need to be in the FS9 folder. Make a back up before using REP. The sun cfg will go into the root FS9 folder. Some texture files go into the FS9 texture folder, some go into world/texture folder. Hope this helps some.

I just installed Real Environment Pro yesterday and it went flawlessly. I placed the install folder in C:\Programs and ran the installer. Everything went where it was supposed to go. The read me file in the zip file states that the installer package must be placed in C:\Programs to work properly.

Once installed, you will have be able to rerun the REP exec file to change the environment as you like (dry, wet, snow). I created a short cut to the exe file and placed it in my Flight Sim Utilities folder on my desktop.

Obio,.....using the installer,...do you first hit the red colored 'backup existing textures',key...and then proceed to hit the blue colored key which will install 'selected textures' from REP?

Exactly....hit the back up button first, then the install button. When I fired the sim up after installing REP and saw just how much improved the reflections on the planes was....that alone was worth the download and install. But then you add in how much better the runways look, the grass, the trees, the clouds, the water, the sky. That one install alone made a 150% improvement in the way FS2004 looked over the stock install.

Since this program doesn't install itself into the FS9 folder, does anyone know how REP works if you have more than one install? I'd like to be able to choose multiple installs to point REP to.

Thanks,

Geary
