Released: Just Flight C152

Hi Ian,

Unfortunately it's a bit 'late in the day' for such significant changes to the model/code. We'll certainly look into the feasibility of offering slightly more modern avionics from some of our past GA aircraft but it's not a quick job.

For our in-house aircraft we have a policy of modelling them 100% on a selected real-world aircraft. This ensures that we end up with a very realistic product with all of the character of the real thing, and helps considerably with the development process as, particularly with GA and military, there are a million different avionics fits which people might request. The C152 is based on an aircraft at my flying club and is representative of the three C152s that we have at the club - none of those have remotely modern avionics as they are cheap and cheerful training aircraft. In fact they don't even have functioning transponders anymore - but we thought that level of realism would be a step too far!

Thanks
Martyn

If I'd known you were doing it earlier, I'd have asked earlier! :D ;)

I agree entirely that pretty much every C152 and C152 II is different - indeed I suspect that may be the case here, because pretty much every one I have flown over the years (with the obvious exception of an FA-152 and a F-152) appear to have been C152 IIs, built around the 1980 mark... That might explain the different default avionics fit, perhaps?

The FA-152 (lovingly known as "Apple Dumpling" by one particular FISO) had a very similar panel fit to that in yours, it appears. The F-152 was very similar to the C-152 IIs, but it said "Reims" in all the places you'd expect it to say "Cessna" and there was no "II" anywhere.

I'm slightly astonished that you're allowed to operate a GA aircraft in the Southern UK without a transponder, though - we were being yelled at repeatedly to install Mode S up here in Middle England, the last time I knew what was going on, let alone have functional TXPR+Altitude Reporting!

I'll accept the answer that it's modelled on a specific aircraft and shut up about it now.

Cheers,

Ian P.

Any thoughts on a Texas Taildragger STOL and/or Aerobat version? Always thought they were nifty little ships. I have Didier Lagaffe's iteration - which I enjoy thoroughly - but I always like seeing other folk's take on them as well...

We're looking into those options but nothing has been confirmed just yet.

I just flew the demo and was really surprised with the framerates. Very nice! Very smooth flying with this great addon! The in-house developement team has put down a true new benchmark. This plane outclasses their earlier efforts.

Finally the demo is released! I race home to download it and take her for a spin -been hanging for this product- and guess what.....!?

As soon it loads i get a message "Your demo has expired. Go to Just Flight to purchase the full version". WTF!?!?! This has happened the last few times I have tried a Just Flight demo.

I have been burnt from their products one too many times, so I welcome the demos....but if they don't work, i guess I will give up on JF all together!?

What a pitty and very frustrated! :banghead:

Apologies for the frustration - although I'm pleased to see that you're so keen to try it out :encouragement:

Are you the chap that reported this issue on our Facebook page and to the support team? (it's handy to know how many people have encountered this)

Some people encounter this issue when using our demos on P3D due to some quirky behaviour with the timers that the simulator provides. For some reason that only affects a handful of people, and it can usually be resolved by simply reloading the aircraft from the menu bar after the flight has loaded. That resets the demo timer (you get 10 mins flying time) and the warning disappears.

(BTW the demo release was held back until the v1.3 update was released)

Thanks

Hello Martyn,

That little trick of yours worked! Very, very happy now thank you.

She is quite a good little plane. I will most certainly purchase her.

Regards,
Tim.

Just for the record, I was having the same problem with the instant demo timeout, but in FSX/Accel. I happened to be in e-mail contact with Alex at the time and he sent me the same info you provided here about reloading it and that worked for me, too.

I would have already bought it, but unfortunately we lost an ongoing battle with HMRC, so no payware purchases in the foreseeable future for me. :(
