Rolling Cache size

Is there a general recommendation about the size for the Online "Rolling Cache Limit"? I initially set mine up as 64GB. I also changed it from the default "limitless" location to my new dedicated for MSFS2024 E drive SSD.

Don't know for sure, as I think most of it is done in RAM now, which is why 64GB is recommended, and more is claimed to be better. I turned on my Task Manager (I had to restart on initial restart,) and left it open on a side window, (I have three screens) and the program used almost 25GB of memory. It varied as I flew, hitting 29GB as it loaded.

DaveKDEN, I haven't seen an authoritative number, but FYI I've been running at 128GB to try to reduce re-downloading the same areas, and haven't had any issue. On FS2020 I had rolling cache turned off, but there's a definite benefit here as far as load times once you've been to an area before.

modelr, actually, rolling cache prevents you from having to re-download as much streamed scenery/aircraft data.

I've only been flying in two areas, so far. Central Iowa, where I live now, and San Diego, California, where I grew up. My average load time is 2 1/2 minutes. I have the Premium Deluxe, with all Enabled. I may have my rolling cache turned on, but I've not paid attention to it. My FRates over downtown San Diego average 60-70 FPS. In 2020 it was often a slideshow until I got away from downtown and kept my view away.

Ooooh, if you've been flying in San Diego, @modelr , be sure to grab vbazillio's airports. He's done a number of beautifully rendered small airports in the SD area.

Yes, I have them all. Haven't installed any in 2024, yet. I know a couple of the airports personally, having been to them. I moved to Santee, just to west of Gillespie in 1962, when I was in 8th grade. Left the area in 1975. I still go back on regular occasions. I know the county well, as one of my jobs before, and after my time in the USAF (1969-1973) was driving to all the automobile sales stores to pick up and deliver warauntee radios and parts for repair by the shop I worked for. 175 miles a day, corner to corner in the county.
