Scimitar by Rob Richardson....

Lying on the bank.. I can almost smell coffee and burgers mixed with aviation fuel:encouragement:

Would love to have seen the Scimitars display. My first time at Farnborough was a few years later.. when Trubbers displayed 002 for the first time. The crowds were awestruck (as was I):sentimental:

My understanding is it was a bespoke paint job specifically for SBAC Farnborough that year. The shots I posted are from practice for SBAC. I believe this was the same (only?) year they did their simultaneous-landing-in-opposite-directions-by-folding-wings-on-the-runway routine...!!!

Hi Andy,

Just read this post; CRIPES!:jawdrop: the FAA; Health and Safety and any of the other similar governing bodies would have had a purple fit, if that was done today!:biggrin-new:
Cheers,

Yup, very nice screen David:encouragement:
Out of interest, how many aircraft were in this display team, and what did they call themselves?
ChipShop

I think the Scimitar team had 4 aircraft (from memory) Chippie and were called the Red Blades!! A much more attractive name than the Sea Vixens first team.. Freds 5!!:untroubled:

Thanks Dave, Hmm, 'Fred's 5' doesn't quite conjure up images of speed and thrills does it? More like a 60s singing group:biggrin-new:

How's this, then? I'm using Formation Setup, and have four in the formation, but getting them to stay together and get a good shot is not easy.

Yes indeed mate. There's a shot of them on the Sea Vixen site and with a bit of imagination, it could well have been for a Pink Floyd cover. No stiff upper lip and lashings of Brylcream with those boys:encouragement:

And speaking of the black sheds, that's something we should have put in a bid for when Orbx were asking for suggestions, isn't it?

Cor! Lucky you David! I can't get my FSX system to accept/communicate with Formation Set Up or ATFx!
I'd love to do some 'Display Team' screenies!

Current or retro? I have APs and DSM/DTM. I could add it to the [ever growing] list. Now that ACG is dissolved it'd be a solo effort.

Andy

I originally thought of the sheds, just as a landmark, like the Cardington ones, but then it occurred to me how good the ACG Duxford is, and I was wondering who to contact to suggest a companion Farnborough. Might it be a runner?

Hey don't mention it Sundog, you're very welcome mate!:encouragement:
And thank you for the link you've posted! Don't you just love those old Ministry films, it certainly gives a good insight of how what we try to emulate in simulation, was actually done for real!
Cheers for now,

Here's the lovely XD321 194/C, HMS Centaur originally released by Henk with a lick of EDSG (his markings on the EDSG background.. we used the same modified PK;))

194H.jpg

Available HERE
All the textures are new so put Henk's originals in a new folder (inside the texture.XD321 folder) for safe keeping and drop these into texture.XD321 folder. I should be able to do his others as the layers are in the PK;)

With you speaking of having time one day and David of living in hope, how's the Tiger Moth project going?
Best wishes,
