I agree, Mach3DS those textures look great, as a side note the DCS Sabre is a great module for DCS, it's functionality is amazing. Wish we had that level of detail in MSFS. I fly it regularly and enjoy it very much.

I've been busy cutting and pasting, and painting images into this project. I have yet to create a COMP map for it as I don't understand the concept yet, but have been reading and watching some You Tubes on the subject.
Notice to the left of the forward fuselage band black border stripe, the shade of the metal is slightly darker, and looks better, which is a copy and paste from another aircraft. Not sure what's going on there?

Doug, thanks for the reminder of all the info at FSDeveloper.com. I will check it out, I've been on their website before, but had forgotten about it. I haven't thought about painting aircraft in MSFS until the release of the Shrike F-86.

Gunnar do you know why this is on the right gear door? I don't see anywhere in the paint kit where you can check or paint a gear door?
Several Shrike liveries have it too.

I've been working on the Blue Channel of the COMP files, and made the area that has the Yellow Bands and the Insignia black to make it a painted surface. It appears to have made a difference in the way these areas look in the sim. I am going to update my upload at Flightsim.to. Any of the more experienced painters please feel free to comment. You've got the right idea Ed. Anywhere a decal or paint is applied should be black in the Blue channel or else the metalic will come through. Also, here's a little tip: I used to make all my decals, lettering slightly more matte in the green channel by copying them over and making them slightly lighter grey. It was just a lot of unnecessary work because, from observing photos of real planes, I found there is in actuality a clear coat spray over the entire finish once the paint has been applied. The gloss on the decals and paint therefore are all the same as the fuselage. The exception might be warbirds where paint was applied with a brush in the field, like DDay stripes. Those may not have the same roughness as the fuselage but slightly more matte as paint would have been applied over the factory clear coat. It really will depend on the aircraft you're painting, the era, and the markings to decide if you should affect the gloss of the applied markings.

Hmmmm...I am not able to locate that texture. Looks a bit different on both my liveries (different colors, same size)

That rectangle on the right gear door is an error by Shrike/Milviz - it's supposed to be mapped to the decals/stencils texture (like the same modeled-rectangle on the left side gear door), but instead it's been mistakenly mapped to the fuselage texture sheet.
