Some new concepts

new carrier

If the arrester hook was the main structural part of the fuselage in a naval aircraft (or any aircraft really), and the fuselage was built around it.
Then you could strike down the aircraft and hang it by its tail hook from the deckhead in the hangar so the aircraft look like a load of bats sleeping.

Wings need not be folded, just overlap its neighbours, tie downs would have to be worked out so that the aircraft doesn't give the impression of large chinese wind charms during stormy conditions.

Any more views?

He's been thinking too much on the subject of flexible decks. It does away with undercarts so you can stack the 'planes anyway you want.

Whatever became of skyhooks for Sea Harriers? You just snag the hook as you slowly fly past, shut down the engine, and they bring you in without burning up all that fuel.

I guess with folded wings they'd look like bats!:isadizzy: Also they'd give the carrier more windage in a blow.
