Hi Caz

I don`t know because I don`t use any other mesh for this region.
It is a LOD10 mesh (38 m)

Holgers readme file:
"Please note: This mesh package is intended to work "on top" of any current terrain mesh file. Our mesh resolution of 38-m grid spacing (LOD10) will automatically override other existing mesh files, most of which are compiled at LOD9 (76-m grid spacing). However, if you're using any other LOD10 add-on mesh of the Alps, like the LAGO Terramesh series, you will need to either deactivate/uninstall those files or ensure priority of display via the FS Scenery Library: in FS2002, the "mesh Alps LOD10 by Ferranti & Sandmann" entry should be *above* the entry of the other LOD10 mesh whereas in FS2004 our entry should be *below* the other's entry (mesh display priority ore the opposite in FS2002 vs. FS2004)."

I am so glad that the new keyboard I got is spill resistant because Milton's sceen shots of the Connie made me drool all over my space bar. That is the sharpest, most life like sim aircraft I have seen. Absolutely amazing. The reflections are so realistic! WOW oh WOW...you Civil Simmers are so lucky to have reflective textures.

I have always enjoyed flying this beauty! After some "CTDs" and the autopilot shutting down under longdistant flights, I will never give her up!!! As a matter of fact, after some fiddling with the panel ( moving the cabfile to the main gauge folder, + using some VNCon 2.0 and L-1649 Starliner gauges..), she behaves :costumes:

Last testflight yesterday ( Boston-Seattle ), no fs9-crash or AP troubles.
Landed safely with only 9%!! left of the feul...:isadizzy:
 
I flew a Los Angeles to Phoenix this morning in real weather settings using the new airfile set that doesnt have the engine freeze failure. Man! What a great flight in this ole bird.... Flew the Trans World Airways variant.

Took a few snappies....

1. KLAX, Fog, IFR departure, 8:10 AM West Coast time
2. Long Beach in the background, about to turn East and head out of California
3. Passing over Palm Springs at the foot of that huge mountain, off to the desert
4. The Salten Sea in the background.
5. Crossed Blythe and the Colorado river, crossing the huge 'great expanse' of desert now
6. Entering Phoenix, over Glendale and Goodyear towns near Luke AFB
7. Downtown Phoenix, about to touch down on Rwy 8 at KPHX, one of our new stadiums in the background
8. Down and parked at Phoenix Sky Harbour. 9:45 AM. Travel time, one hour and thirty five min's. Had to do a go around from following in a slow bird.

No frozen engines!!! :d

I ran into a problem with mine yesterday at 10,000 feet over the English Channel. I was snooping around the main engine panel and realized that #2's oil pressure warning light was on. The oil temp was buried at outside air temp but the manifold pressure and everything else was fine. I hit the autostart key and it came to life...I flew about 400 miles on 3 engines and never knew it. I dont know why #2 didnt stay running after take off or how long it wasnt running for.

The only quirk I found is the sound dosent always load up. It'll sound like the previous aircraft I just flew. I flew the T6 Harvard, fired up the Connie and it sounded like 4 T6's running, which was actually pretty cool. I tried it again with the P-47 and same thing. I'm redownloading it now to see if it fixes the bugs somewhere.

I just flew from Watertown NY to Buffalo NY and what a horrendous experience that was.

Speed brake, note to self...Dont use it. My wing gear dropped and stayed down. The nose gear never budged. I had to manually drop the nose gear as I made my approach to Buffalo/Niagra Falls. The flaps started to go down but stopped themselves and went back up. So, I had no flaps. They were useless after that. It sounded like they were going down but they just never did. I was getting a warning chime in the cockpit but couldnt find any gauge outta wack, other than the hydraulic pressure warnings for the gear. Then, once I touched down, the prop reversers wouldnt shut off. It stayed engaged. I had to shut the motors down and restart them all.

Lionheart, when mine engines do die, they will restart. I guess I should download this anyways?

I think you're confusing the L1649A Satrliner by Manfred Jahn for the L049 by FSDzigns. The Starliner does have a VC whereas the L049 does not. The fix referred to by Lionheart is for the L049 and will not work with the Starliner. Also the L049 doesn't have airbrakes. As for the airbrakes on the Starliner, it sounds like your deploying them at too high an airspeed. That will damage the hydraulics and render the flaps inoperable as well as the landing gear.

I have several models of that aircraft so I may be confusing them. Sorry about that. I mainly fly one though since the other dosent have a VC. The Starliner is a way better model in my opinion. Way more clickable controls and better flight dynamics, to me anyways...

The Starliner is easier to fly because it has more power, but from what I read, the original FSDZigns Connie, from everything I read, still behaves like the real thing. There's not quite as much power, so takeoff runs can be long if you're loaded for a long flight. Drag is low, so you have to descend carefully - there's no airbrakes.

BTW, the main gear are the airbrakes on the Starliner. But as was said before, don't try to deploy them too soon or you risk hydraulic damage.
 
VC or not, the FSDezigns L049 is still the best looking Connie out there IMHO. The late John White captured the lines almost perfectly.

I agree.. She's a real beauty. Looks totally photographic. And the interior 'view' shots make up for a VC in my humble opinion as well...

Man, what a sound file.. With the window open, I am sure the neighbors were outside trying to find that airplane noise, lol.... Coffee mug vibrating close to the edge of the table, pens rolling about, dog had his paws over his ears, lol...

And you did an incredible job with it..! You can almost smell the raw fuel being burned...It looks great. I was thinking about importing just that to my other Connie models because I enjoy it so much.
