Top FS2004 freeware planes of 2008?

DennyA

SOH-CM-2023
Okay, I've been running FSX-only for the past year or so, but I just built a new system and put a basic install of FS2004 on it so that I could check out the best planes that have come out since I removed the sim.

So, folks, what are the awesome FS2004 planes from the last year? Fighters, tubeliners, whatever. I've kept my FSX install to pure FSX SDK planes, so planes that had "fake FSX" versions are welcome as well.

I see Jan Visser's Sabre should be first on my list... What else?

If you are into helicopters, then my Bell 212 should fit the bill. Although not officially released yet. I did release a couple of betas during the development cycle and now the final public release candidate is about to go online soon, just have a few small tweaks to do, waiting on final paint textures, write the docs and we are ready for lift off:ernae: After the 212 is released, the UH1N/CH135 and AB212 series are next:mixedsmi:

If you want tubes, go to Project Opensky. Hands down, the best in Boeing freeware. Then put in the SOH Invader. Oh, if you don't already have the SF8 Saber, slap yourself! Manfred Jahn's group has put out a really nice L1649A Starliner. The list goes on, and with an open ended question like yours, this thread might take on a life of its own for a week or two. Follow the link below and judge popularity by the download count on each file:

... put in the SOH Invader.

Tom, that probably belongs in the 2007 list; however, since it was mentioned you'll get no argument
from this old boy who would like to add that Bomber_12th's great B-26K (A-26A) Counter-Invader
(b26kinvader.zip) deserves an extra special place beside it. :applause:

Heummmm, I think Dave Garwoods Hunters were done before 2008 as well.

I think for me the most amazing FS2004 models for 2008 were all models done by Stephano and Manuele, Wim Regeer's Fokker C-X and the Restauravia Magisters and Bloch MB152.

The Koolhoven FK.58 was released just before Christmas 2007 so I can nominate that one ;)

I'm absolutely sure I did forget some stunning models, but these were the first to pop-up!

Cheers,
Huub

- anything by Manuele Villa
- AFG Caravelle!!
- FS-KBT F-2A (www.fs2004.co.uk/pictures/mitsubishi-f-2/)
- Roland Laborie, Jean Pierre Bourgeois and team's Mirage IV
- And of course that F-86

Maybe check my site because it pretty much is a list of the best freeware =D

I know Ito's been on a tear this year. I'm rather partial to his FJ-1 Fury with its many 'what-if' repaints and his Yak-23 Flora deserves mention. Lately I've been rather enamored of Ito's F-94C Starfire with the rocket mods--bringing out my inner pyro:d.

For me the winner is the Lockheed L-1649A Starliner by Manfred Jahn and his Starliner Team (and the Wright Turbocompound sound by Friedrich Trachsel).

Cheers,
Maarten

Tubeliners - Anything by Project Opensky and Project Airbus.
Props - The Lockheed L-1649A Starliner by the Starliner Team
Military jets - Of course the new Section F8 F-86 :ernae:
Thanks to all who produce the great freeware for us to use. :applause::applause::applause::applause:
