First impression - interior is very good and more detail in the gear. But there's only one texture and the exterior model is probably derived directly from the old FS2004 one. Despite being a 4096x4096 texture, there's no more detail than in FS2004 - disappointing. Still, I can probably graft my PBR paints on to it reasonably easily.

That said it's still an impressive beasty!!

PS: This review is called a Rat Sandwich, nice bits top and bottom, bad bits in the middle!

Well that's a bit disappointing. There were low resolution polys visible in the screenshots which I thought would be cleaned up at launch. Not sure why they didn't add texturing to the exterior. How is the sound set? Will it fly in FS2024? Asking for a friend.

To be scrupulously fair there is a bit more detail in the externals but not a lot. I'm a painter and decorator so the sound set isn't too important to me; in any case my sound system isn't exactly high-end. For what it's worth it sounds little different to the standard FSX/P3D one to my (a bit deaf) ears.

One thing I didn't try in my initial flight, was to see if the jets could be operated independently from the piston engines. Be fun if they could....

DaveQ

On the jets, once I was up and running just throttled back and turned the fuel off. The jets are in the overhead center panel.

Update - the sound is actually MUCH better. How accurate it is, watch Strategic Air Command clip of a take-off in 4k and judge for yourself....

DaveQ

Not there yet, but I suspect it will be on Simmarket at some point. The other FS2020 Virtavia releases are there.

Broke down and bought the big cigar. I would call it FSX with benefits. ;-) A good $15 sim and great for those who love this era of aircraft.

Is a paint kit included with this release?

Tommy
Not as far as I can see atm. However, I think it might be easy enough, if time consuming, to graft on from your FSX .dds files. That's what I'm going to try anyway.

I'll ask Phil if he plans on providing one.

Tommy

New release for the sime, so I made a sticky and changed the title.

Hope Tom doesn't mind.

6 Turnin' and 4 burnin'. Do you hear the jet engines startup separately from the proper engines?
