Pete,
Those who know me well will tell you that I am very rarely stuck for words. Right now the only ones I can think of are, thank you very, very much.

My respects, sir.
David

PS. How many more sleeps till it's done?

Got it, thank you Pete. I had planned to have an hour or so on the piano but i guess not now!!
Thanks again
David

The Tutor looks really nice in green. :encouragement:

Cheers,
Huub

Thanks Huub.

I couldn't decide on the colours from the monochrome photo above, other than white, so settled on classic british car colours of green and off-white. If anyone knows better I can easily change the green for something else.

Hope you don't mind Pete, I'm not trying to gild the lily, but I thought a little "identification" wouldn't go amiss.
I need hardly add, it's already a Floatplane and an Early Cowl Tutor!!

Regards
David

Not in the slightest. I can add for you if you don't want to spoil Nigel's shading and shadowing.

Btw, a bit more researching, Doncaster Aero Club was home base to Cobham's "Flying Circus", as Doncaster was location chosen by Cobham to set up the "Aero Centre" the government asked for after WW1.
Couldn't find any pictures of a club logotype, all the ones I found were of the newer club at Sandtoft/Finningley, and the Municipal Airport (RAF Doncaster) is now site of Aeroventure South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum.

Pete,
Not being a painter, here's how I did it.
1. Converted to standard bmp in DXT manipulator.
2. Opened in Paint, did the lettering, left hand side
3. Flipped the image in Paint, did the lettering on the right hand side.
4. Crossed fingers
5. Re- converted to extended bmp, dropped in folder.

Will any part of that process affect the original texture in the way you suggest?
David

Hi chaps,

Thanks to some detective work by djs1,
I now know more details of the actual colours used on this
particular Avro...

Question : If I rework the colours of both versions that I've done to date, do I replace the current uploads or upload
as additional paints?

Thanks

Pete

No contest Pete, additional paints please.
Can I give due appreciation to George Jenks, archive manager at the Avro Heritage Museum for very kindly responding to my questions.

I see no reason to delete the existing paints. If you're compulsive about authenticity, you could just go into the descriptions on the early versions and add a note that the colors are fictional.

But whether or not you do that, please post the corrected version!

PHEW!

Thank goodness Dave you're all right!!

I read the thread title wrong.........I suppose I should have gone to Specsavers....;)

Shessi, thank you for your concern, to coin a phrase "the reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated ".
Gave me a laugh though, imagine what I thought when Pete started the thread because, like you, I misread it.
