Warbirsim P-51C-10-NA 'Ey'Rube! II'

That looks really good Stephan.
Some extra info: It was originally called 'Hey Rube! II', but then the 52nd FG introduced the red band behind the prop, and the 'H' was overpainted
Lt Zoerb also flew a D model, called 'Hey Rube IV', maybe I should do that one too...

Thanks for the info, Jan. I've learned something today.
Of course, it would be great to have the D model...;)

Regards,

Stephan

That's why I love this place. Not only are we graced by the most talented painters, but we also are graced by good folks who share history with us as well. I was fascinated to learn why the name of this Pony seemed so strange. Many thanks to you both, and Jan, if you decide to paint the D model, I will line up to download it as well. :applause::medals::medals::medals:

OK, this I couldn't resist of course.
Here's a few WiP shots, as you can see there are still a few details to sort, but I have no more time for now.

This aircraft ended up in Rumania. During an escort mission on 8 september 1944, to pick up some American POW's with a B17, Capt Zoerb lost power over Bucharest airfield and made a very hard landing, buckling the wings. He stayed overnight with the Rumanian pilots and was treated to a real feast: Sheep's head soup! The next day, he flew back in a B17.

Are there any SOH Administrators around who can get this repaint to the download section sometime today?? Sheesh. Epsillion had this ready at 3:00 am Pacific Time, and its now going on 5:00 pm. :faint:

There should be another P-51B repaint showing up as well, as soon as the newest uploads are switched on. ;)

Excellent job on these Stephan!

as soon as the newest uploads are switched on
..and that's the rub, isn't it. The last time uploads were added was about 15 hours ago by my clock. I've been going in and out of the download section all day, and still nothing new since this morning. Now its about time for bed. Guess all of this will just have to wait until tomorrow.
