What are your opinions on the CWDT Hellcat?

The reviews I've seen of this plane have been highly favorable, but wanted to know if anyone here has this plane and what they think of it. I've found a fair number of repaints on AVSIM/Flightsim.com so that's definately an incentive to buy it.

Thanks,

I have it. I like it. Visibility is somewhat poor from the VC, which is not consistent with everything I’ve read about the real one. But the quality of the cockpit, both VC and 2D is great. The external model is beautiful. Good sound too (by dcc) It's worth it, in my opinion.

Fantastic addon! I concur with the poor viz VC, but with trackIR its not too bad. Even without trackIR, it is an easy to live with compromise considering how good the rest of the aircraft is. HTH.

VC visibility is always an issue, one that a properly dimensioned cockpit will fall short in! Spending a whole bunch of my life aloft as a pilot I have thought about this issue a bit. As we have binocular vision, we have somewhat of an illusion of seeing right past close objects of narrow dimension, and our head is constantly shifting position, filling in much of the mental picture of vision. Track IR helps this a little. Some aircraft (DCC's P-38's come to mind) have narrowed the canopy frames in the VC. Sometimes this does not look quite right, but more closely replicates what we can actually see while flying the airplane.

Flightsim involves many compromises and deviations to more closely replicate the flight experience.

Cheers: T.
