Allways do my updates, otherwise will be using Windows 75 and never had a major problema...this new version 1803 installed (took a while) on both dek and laptop mine and wife's with no problema at all.Quite happy and feel tht P3D v4.2 is running better…

Regards

2 hrs to download and install this late last night - wasn't even aware I'd given it permission to install.

Immediately found Edge no longer worked but discovered this seemed due to a firewall interface I was using now becoming unusable (Tinywall).

Uninstalling Tinywall got Edge running again, but since then I've had to restart twice due to my desktop just suddenly not responding to any mouse clicks.

And looking through the update contents tells me it's full of superficial tweaks I'll never go near.

Wonder what other joys this update holds in store.

Thanks MS.

Hello Aardvark,

New builds are not things that you give permission for. They are mandatory in that, if you're two builds behind, your system is no longer supported.

As for the problems with Tinywall, apparently these are known issues. You might want to do a repair of the update you have by rolling back and installing it again, this time without Tinywall.

Hope this helps a bit.

Whatever 'Tinywall' is... I don't have it...but I DO HAVE a dud Edge.
If MS cannot get its own system's functionality to behave with a mandatory update then welcome to the machine, guys.
What's it like to be in a FORCED BETA program called Windows 10?
Have you EVER wondered why they offered this rubbish as a FREE UPGRADE?
Because, darlings, they new damn well they couldn't charge for it.
Once upon a time, brave, adventurous people [including me] willingly/consciously subscribed to things like Technet...so we could access alphas...even before they were Betas....
It was fun. I could blue screen the stablest OS [then] on average 3 times a day [Win 2000].
Never fazed me, but then I actually ASKED for trouble.
Now, Granny No-Clue is forced to endure something she can't even comprehend.
Thanks, Microsoft,you are an a***.

Ok, I've had Windows 10 for some time on this laptop, and haven't had any problems. The 1803 update went well. Granted this machine doesn't do any "heavy lifting", and FS is on the Windows 7 machine. But today I had this pop up. I've not seen this before. I thought I'd been hacked. Look at the wording of this message! It says: "Uh, this is not your operating system, just in case you didn't know, and we can update it whenever we feel like it, so get used to it." I couldn't even shut down the computer. The option to "shut down" was gone, replaced by "sleep" and "restart". Holding the power button down did NOT shut down the computer. Just put it to sleep, and when it "woke up" the screen was as I left it, with that message displayed. Task Manager would not kill it. I laucnhed KillSwitch. It launched but I could not interact with it! It was acting exactly like ransomware, so I thought that's what it was, lol. So I Googled it, using the Linux machine. I learned it was a "legitimate" Windows update. Wow.

I got that update Sunday and when I was ready to turn off pressed the 'Install Update and Shutdown' option.

But the next day when I turned on it spent about half an hour 'Installing' the update. When it was done everything was fine, but it was annoying that it did not complete the install the night before. Given that it was a week night I did not have that much computer time available to spare, I was not pleased. :banghead:
