• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Wombat, Looks Like You Were Right!

Probably something that could happen, given the remote control technology in use today Ed.
Having said that, any Situational Awareness that drivers have today (despite their limited visibility) will vanish.

In reality, as Madame Wombat pointed out, even if a driver's helmet were fixed in place and the cockpit enclosed, the Impact Forces would still cause exactly the same catastrophic brain trauma as suffered by Bianchi.
That highly vulnerable mass which controls us humans is just floating inside a solid shell, the whiplash effect jist bounces it around.

As Sofie reminded me, Senna was not killed by the suspension arm that penetrated his helmet, the PM report showed that he suffered massive fatal internal injuries before the rod delivered the coup de grace (her words BTW).
Briefly, his heart, lungs and other vital organs had been literally torn apart by the impact, in her Professional Opinion (and being 50% 'Italian') the 'penetration of the brain injury' was a convenient cause of death acceptable to the Italian Legal System, which thrives on Litigation.

Being a very pragmatic person, Sofie believes the only person responsible for Bainchi's acident is Bianchi, which I do rather agree with.
