• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

    The Staff of SOH

  • Server side Maintenance is done. We still have an update to the forum software to run but that one will have to wait for a better time.

All hands, please read. Ickie.

"Ickie" Ron Larson was Mr. SOH to me. It is hard for me to realize he is not there for advice and help whenever I needed it. Alway cheerful and someone to admire. I will be thinking of him often.

Sad news indeed! Condolences to all Ickie's friends and family during this difficult time. My hope is that SOH will continue on in the tradition that we have all come to cherish.

RIP Ron, your constant vigilance kept SOH safe from the nefarious internet scum. Your work will go on.

I suspected it was coming. However, it is still sad to learn of his death. First Tom over at AVSIM now Ron.

My heartfelt condolences to his family.

The epitome of "behind the scenes unsung hero"! ...one of those folks you never had to worry about being on the job. You might have to check on "lessor" folk to make sure they were present. Not Ron! I've been around SOH for a while and I could probably count on my fingers and toes the number of times that Ickie had to come out from behind his seeming anonymity only to reassure us weak kneed simmers that he really was on the job taking care of whatever the current issue was.

Rest in peace Ron. You've received a permanent upgrade. No more hackers or updates to deal with.

Salute.

I'm very sorry to hear. The only good is that he is now without pain. My condolences to he family. Fair Sky's...

'til Later,
John

this is unexpected and very sad news.
Ron contacted me directly via PM when I was accidentally banned last year to apologize directly. I replied that it was only an innocent mistake and that I had no ill feelings at all.
I wish I had conveyed more to him the feeling that he was so appreciated for maintaining this site in such a calm and professional manner.
He was a good man, based on what I know of him.
Rest in Peace, Ron and condolences to his family and friends here and at home.
