Gents, please let's not end this thread in a negative way. What if the mods decide to lock it after all these years, éh ? Hartwig just asked something he was worried about, nothing wrong with that if you ask me. Just a little unfortunate now that the model finally is about to be released.

@ Hartwig: i do see your point but it's like Hairyspin says, the photo of the real pit cannot be compared with the screenshot because of the different position ( point of view if you will ). It is also a matter of the fact that we 'sit' inside something that is supposed to be 3D while it still is 2D...

To ease your mind, Hartwig, just about everything inside a real C-47 cockpit has been carefully measured :

Even up until the diameter of the quadrant levers knobs :

And i have stuck to these measures as much as possible.

Good chance your worry about the windscreen measures will dissapear once you slide open that small front window and let some fresh air in..

Gents, i'll open a new thread for the release of the "FSX/FSX-SE/P3D Douglas DC-3/C-47 V3 Beta 1.12" as it's officially called now. Watch out for it.

Cheers,
Jan

@Jan, thank you for the explanation.

National Airways Corporation New Zealand ... YEP :encouragement: .. then saying that VH-AEQ .. I missed that on the radar , Arthur Pearcy's book has a wicked photo of that :very_drunk:

Talking of manuals, I contacted Norman Hancock of DC-3 Airways to clearify one point. The folks at DCA use the most realistic FDE so far, in my opinion. What always bothered me, though, was that the standard climb performance of the DC-3/C-47 (with PW 1830-92 or S1C3G engines) in the 36 in. MP/2350 rpm configuration seemed grossly exagerrated as in light weight vertical speed easily exceeded 1000 ft/min. Then I found out that none of the passenger Daks would normally climb in this configuration: firstly for ease of the passengers and secondly to prolong engine duration. The New Zealand National Airways Corporation (NZ NAC) cruise chart for example calls for 31 in./2050 rpm (650 hp) up to 3000 ft. after which MP is left dropping to 29.5 inches with ascending altitude up to (theoretical) 12.000 ft.

To make a long speech short: have a look at these comprehensive manuals from Elite Flight Services. They are actually used for type certification and also contain some more 'convenient' performance figures for our beloved Dak.

EDIT: Find the NZNAC power control chart attached. :)

My favorites, thanks so much for doing those two, had to show them off!!! :encouragement:

Do you know if there is a Karup, AB scenery? I was stationed there for short time for NATO.

Hi Ted,

I'm not aware of any scenery for Karup AB, however that Air Base is located in Denmark where the Danes live. I live in the Netherlands, where the Dutch people live. Its common that these things get mixed up. And to be honest I don't really know where the connection Netherlands and Dutch comes from.

Cheers,
Huub

I am English and do not understand your position.

You want independance.

But you want our protection.

You want Faslane moved to the UK.

You do not want our nuclear submarines made in Barrow in Furness giving thousands of jobs.

Your oil prices have fallen dramatically and there is not much oil left.

Who is going to protect you and where are you going to make your money?

Looks very bleak to me for independance.

Cheers Chris

Chris,

sorry, I was trying to make a joke.

I apologise to the thread and it's plotted coarse, I did not mean to take it off point. I do not want to enter into a political converse either, was not my intention, sorry. I could wax lyrical all day long on this topic, but I won't and regret making the poorly timed joke. I will not respond to your points as this is not the place, nor, I fear, lead to a brief conclussion.

apologies,
