Attention all DC-3 fans !

They ran 'Flight of the Phoenix' on local TV last night (course had to watch it) :untroubled: but when trying to start the engine .... some reason my brain case drifted to this DC-3 and the engine start ups and radials .... course no shotgun shells and a Dennis Quaid .. or a sniveling spoiled model aeroplane maker :biggrin-new:

The original movie I hope. With James Stuart and Hardy Krüger! :very_drunk:

Uh oh... Dennis Quaid. Not the original movie.:icon36:

Ian-

The original is truly brilliant, glad others remember.... BUT- back to this historic release!

I am SO GLAD that this thread has existed continuously, so as to truly depict the support that Manfred & Jan et al have, and the enthusiasm that we all feel for their collective contribution to our venerable old lady!

"Redefining freeware standards" cannot be said enough, though as I mentioned earlier, this will surpass many a paid add-on!

Best- C

One thing achieved here on this DC-3 is the that engine startup, something that stuck in my brain case, a memory of a Mount Cook Airlines Dak, on the airlines maintenance ramp in by the old Airwork hanger at Christchurch Intl ... the engine slowly whinding over then a cough and splutter then stops , they have another go , prop did a few rotations next flame out the exhaust next boom and the engine kicks over, started , that was quiet dramatic.

Ok... I thought I would put a little more effort into texturing the radials done in 4096.

WOW!!! Huge difference! That is some amazing detail! Always enjoy seeing your handiwork. Thanks TuFun. :encouragement:

Thanks Bob, much appreciated! The radial engine is a marvel in design, so with doing the sounds, exhaust smoke, why not texture that too! :adoration:

Simply Dak ! I'm really enjoying the build on this, one I did seriously take a look at was the ... to "Paint Department" .. OK done the rest the serious hotties department .

Come on Ian, just paint one to look like an Ec121k!
:untroubled: And a Come on to you on Don , hey idea .. time for you to jump onto NZFF Team Speak channel , have a good chat with you and Mom :encouragement:

Thank you! sometimes Shorpy posts very interesting photos of the original WWII planes plants.
Here the full format photo: http://www.shorpy.com/node/20951?size=_original#caption
It was taken in the year 1940: "Painting the cylinders of aircraft motors at the Pratt & Whitney plant. East Hartford, Conn."hitney plant. East Hartford, Conn.ainting the cylinders of aircraft motors at the Pratt & Whitney plant. East Hartford, Conn."

Final rendering of the R-1830... Manfred's seal of approval! Fittings have natural brass color, prop hub bolts, reworked cylinders and clamp (3d), and Manfred improved the prop governor bits.

That looking Superb TuFun, love the Manfred Seal of approval :encouragement:

Corrected that! :biggrin-new: Manfred has sent me the updated models to finish up the radials (4096).

I think "G" is updating the paint kit to 4096. Haven't seen the kits yet.

Thanks anyways, didn't think my style was as good as "G"! :encouragement:

Truly artists!

Wow pals. You are raising the bar to the stratosphere. Payware developers must put a lot of more effort in his products 'cause this DC-3 is outstanding! :applause:

When the things are done with pure love....:encouragement:
