Douglas A20 Havoc

Attached are model replacement folders for the "C" model only (regular and Russian).

Antennas are mapped to where the base sits on the top of the fuselage and will take the color of that area of the fuselage. No action is required by you and no changes are required to the paint kits.

Thanks for the reply Milton and you really don't have to feel sorry :biggrin-new:

Papi, thanks for the nice words. I love to make them weathered!

Cheers,
Huub

THAT is one seriously gorgeous paint!!! What a beautifully beat up, well used airplane.

just.. WOW ! :applause::encouragement:

Well, I got this notification right after I exported the mapping changes for the FSX native version.
Unfortunately, I did not remap the loop antenna, but will.

I have decided to make it easy on all involved (including Wellis and the paint kits) and map the antennas to the fuselage where the base sits, and laid rearward. This then would pick up the color they sit on and should accommodate the multi-colored schemes well.

If anyone has issue with this, speak now or forever hold your peace. :)

My 2 cents:

Being in / around aviation all my life, it has always been my understanding that if it where a 'mast' used to support an item (antenna or a 'wire'), then you could paint it however if it was an antenna, or an antenna inside of a 'mast', then you would leave it in it's 'natural' color that the manufacturer made it in.

I believe (altho I could be wrong since it's been quite a while since I've worked with avionic items) that today if you purchase antenna's for your airplane they come with stickers on them that indicate "do not paint" and to eliminate a big color hassle, most of them come with a 'white' finish only...

Now, like I said, I could be wrong in all this - but that's what my understanding has always been regarding antenna's etc..

On the 'flip side', this is a flight simulation game - paint them whatever color you want !!!! LOL

Having been a radar tech my entire career, I have a small experience with this sort of thing. No expert by any stretch, but...
There are two factors involved here. First, for any "active" sort of antenna, one that transmits/receives, or even just passively receives, as long as the paint isn't too awfully thick, and/or has any kind of metal particles in it, then it doesn't matter. Take a look at most modern fighters. The nose is painted, and that's where the radar antenna is housed. The trick is in what it's made of, not how it's painted. As long as it's a non-metallic kind of materiel, it's fine. That way, it's "transparent" to the energy passing through.
Same for radio antennas. As long as there isn't too much paint, and it's not metallic in any way, they can be painted, if you desire. Now, for antennas that are made to pick up very weak signals, yes, the manufacturer doesn't want anything on it, as it may attenuate the signals enough they get lost in the background noise. Things like GPS receiver antennas, radalt antennas and so on, a lack of any kind of attenuation, like paint, is a very good idea.

Just my experiences...
Pat☺

Currrently in the library.....

Guys its ready when its ready, and therefore it should be available in the library by now.....

Enjoy,

Together with "Green Hornet" these are the repaint I originally planned.

I have already decided which one will be next. Its a real challenge as it has quite a complex nose art.

These schemes are just the start, there will be more over the coming days.

Hope you enjoy them.
Steve

I'm a little late to the party. Do I have it right that the beautiful skins shown above are for a model that is not yet complete? I don't see an A-20 available in "FS9 Military propeller aircraft".

Downwind, happy that you jumped in; the water is fine. :)

I released a "painters' package" some months ago and that is what you see being painted.

We will be releasing an early beta before too long. So, if you want to download any available liveries, you are welcomed to.

A bit of history...

That's an interesting profile SH72. It shows the "B" model nacelles and the "A" or "C" model nose plexi arrangement.

I need to look that up to see what model it was.

Thanks for sharing that.

EDIT: Duh! Says "A" in the profile. :)

I was wrong ... the early "A" model had those cooling vents.
