F7F Tigercat SOH Project

F7F Tigercat SOH Project Bad Kitty

Hallo Friends,

I see that my last release "Bad Kitty" has still yet been downloaded 71 times.
On my knowledge it is the onlyist repaint for the last release of the Tigercat.
My repaint is certainly not perfect (especially the vertical til section!).
I hope that after so much having been done on the Lodestar the Tigercat project will wake up again.

Happy Landings

Papi, you have done very well with this 2D panel and the animated legs of course. It is obvious that one foot is forward and one is back in the coordinated turn.

I suspect that most people do not use 2D panels anymore, having moved on to strictly VC flying, and that's why there is less interest today in nice 2D panel work.

I like 2D panel flying in IMC when visibility is terrible. That way I can keep tabs on all my instruments without having to pan around searching for them. In IMC, especially in heavy winds and rain or fog, 2D is the only way for me.

But I suspect in am in a minority with you on this. :)

I agree with Milton. In fact I hardly ever fly VC for the simple reason that I get desorientated in that environment. 2D and looking around through the various windows is what I prefer most and keeps me alert. To me 2D is the most practical, which doesn't mean that I would not like VC panels as such, because I do.

Papi, I like the design of your panels very much. Please keep up the good work.

Cheers,
Maarten

Papy,

Thank you for this new addition to the library. We appreciate all your efforts to enhance the products we use, and you do that very well.

There may be a need for clarification as to exactly which model release this is for.
The old, original WIP releases were removed from the library here but they are still available at Simviation and Flightsim.

The new F7F series is awaiting a Paint Kit from gman5250 before that series can be released.

There is also a question for you in the download discussion forum regarding model version.

If your release is for the original WIP version, you should make that clear and maybe make available a link where it can be found.

Thank you Sir :)

Papi,

I have downloaded your package for clarification to determine which model it is for.

I am happy to report that it is for the new-to-be-released model series, model folder -3t (2-seater variant model -3P).

I had forgotten that I made the new release available for a short time for repainters ... or I guess I must have. LOL

I see you used the the templates for the -3 single seater that apparently works on the two-seater as well as they are almost identical.

It may be confusing to some that there is a thumbnail in the livery of the -3N instead of the -3P 2-seater variant you painted.

At any rate, your paint scheme looks great and I thank you for that Sir. :)

For now though, only those people that downloaded the release for repainters will be able to enjoy it.

I will get out the new "gold" release as quickly as possible.

EDIT: I just went back and re-read the posts since June. Apparently I did a special release for re-painters and anyone else who wanted it: see post #1187. Those links are no longer active but that was back on August 6th. So Papi, you release will work for those who downloaded that WIP re-painters release. Wow, strange how much I forget when I have so many aircraft in progress. LOL

Hallo Milton, Hallo friends,

thank you for your comments.
MMMM they encourageme a lot!
Next in the tube will be the 2d panel for the nightfighter.
So I'm awaiting for the official release of the "Tigercat package V2"
I have found some interesting profiles for repainting.
Oh a question perhaps some one can help me.
For the two seater I want to make "La Patrona", but how to make with my old psp6 the polished metal/alloy effect?
Or would a real expert of repaint do it?
Happy landings

Milton, I am still flying your old Tigercat occasionally - so this one is certain to be a permanent addition to my hangar:jump::jump::jump:

Thank you Sasha ... for all you do.

If you are flying FSX, gman5250 has taken the native FSX version up several notches. The beta testing has been very impressive ... and with lots more to come on that side. See the FSX thread.

Bill, that looks really nice Sir. :applause: Love those colors.

Oh, BTW, did you mean to post this in the "Rounder" thread rather than the F7F thread? :)

Invested this last half of the day going through the F7F series and tweaking and playing with gman5250's FSX textures converted to 32 bit and downsized. The results look pretty nice but the blue is not as deep nor as glossy. Of course, I lose the bump and specular maps and custom envmaps so this is not very representative of how nice the FSX side looks. These show the F7F-1 and -3, both 1 and 2-seaters. I haven't done the -3n yet as I have no textures for that one.

They still look pretty darn good, Milton. It has been my experience that downsizing 2048 textures to 1024, even at 32 bit, the end result is not quite the same. I'm not a good repainter, so I have to experiment with different texture sets and see what the outcome. But those with better skills can certainly create some awesome paints for this model.

No doubt, the FSX Tigercat is an eyepopper, Gman has done an outstanding job in the paint and bump department. It's very nice to look at in the spot view.

None the less, I will fly the FS9 Tigercat as well as the FSX version. Both are unique and have a lot to offer this "Venerable ol' Hog Driver".

F7F-1 Closed Beta

I have just uploaded the F7F-1 Beta for those of you who have the time and are willing to go through this package thoroughly and provide a test report.

As a closed beta, I will provide the link to those who contact me with interest and under the above conditions.

Thanks in advance for your help to shake this down.

The other models will be available as I complete them over the next week.

The paint kit should be available next week.

I'd be happy to take her out for a spin, and give you a full PIREP! As always, thanks for your continued work!

Hallo Milton,

again I worked on the panel for the F7F-1,
I tried to be as close as possible to your original panel.
Here the outcome:

If you agree that I use this panel I will make test flights with your beta model.
There are still some little problems on the panel I must try to find out, as to jettison the fuel tank and that in the same time the gauge for this tank will go to zero.

Happy test flights

Papi, your panel looks great Sir! :applause: Well done.

The F7F-1 does not have a drop tank so that is not a problem to be resolved.
For the -3 series, one usually does not drop a tank until the fuel is depleted so I would not think that is an issue.

The -1 Beta link sent by PM and the -3 withe the sound sets will follow shortly.
Thank you

Awaiting delivery of the F7F-1 Beta for testing, patiently at the dispersal, Chief.... lol! :onthego:

Thank you Tom,

The -1 beta is available and I am about to upload the -3 and will send that link shortly.
The -3 has the sound sets for all.

For those of you quick on the draw, the -3 is still uploading ...... EDIT: Now Done
