More Meteors from Rob Richardson!

and, as requested, a Belgian aircraft, GE-G of 349 squadron:

both paints now available on OZx

happy flying, Jan Kees

Thank you so much Jankees!!! I'll be sure to pick up both "Low Countries" repaints!!

If only I could offer you a daughter in marriage in return! ;-)

Thank you, Pete and Jankees! Just downloaded the paints and I am going to fly them in a moment!

You are very welcome! Just finished a couple more silver Dutch examples. These will be the last silver ones but I may come back with a Dutch example when I move on to camo schemes. I was about to do a couple of Belgian examples but I think I will leave them to Jankees and move on to another country.

And very nice it is too. Many thanks for this one Rob - is the mapping the same as the Mk 8 (i.e. does it use the same paintkit) as I've got a couple of nice additional schemes in mind.

The paint kit I used was for the F Mk 8, just needed to bring the paint line forward at the nose, to make up for the extra nose length.

I used my revised F8 paintkit to create a 208 Squadron FR9. If you let me know which ones you are going to paint Andy I will avoid them (I hope WX962 is not one of them!).
In the meantime I will crack on with a Israeli example.

I was looking at WX962, a couple of Israeli schemes (one silver, one camo) and an 8 Squadron Meatbox, but I think I'll leave it with you Peter; you're far better at this sort of thing anyway.

Just finished a Israeli FR9 paint. This was the aircraft that shot down two Egyptian DH Vampires on 01.09.55.

Lovely, I'm going to fly them all!

Lovely work Rob and Peter. The FR9 is my fave meteor by a long shot - amazed it came together so quickly.

Best regards,

DL

Looks like we soon have the complete lineup of Meteors thanks to Rob and all the painters! thank you!

I have always found the Meteors a bit speedy and upon checking the engine info I found that the static thrust was 500lb above the stated engine performance (4000 vs 3500) for the Derwent 8. For example with the NF.11, which was a rather heavy bird with the same Derwent 8 as the F.8, you can do a rather steep accelerating climb which is maybe not completely accurate. At least in my mind, changing the values to 3500 makes it fly more like I assume it would. I'm no expert and this is just my own opinion.

AW Meteor NF.11 "51-513" of 723 Esk, Royal Danish Air Force in its delivery paint scheme from the UK. The Danish Meteors later got a different Danish camouflage pattern which differs from the standard RAF/factory paint scheme.

All new textures with new panel lines and bump files.

Do any of you have any info about the right side camouflage pattern around the serial number (51-513)? I have only found a rather long range shot which barely shows the aircraft, but it might look like the grey extended around the number in a similar way as the RAF used grey around their serial number (albeit further back on the RAF Meteors).

Looked through all of my references and, sorry, I can't find any photographic evidence; afaik the export nightfighters used exactly the same scheme as the RAF ones (at least until they were repainted) so you're probably safe with what you're suggesting.
