Nimitz-class aircraft carriers

After the reissue of the Stennis I think the stern section looks much better. I had to convert the CVN_74_sprayfree.mdl so that it would not fly (again) No more little round exhaust vents from the stern section.

I used my own wake as the ones supplied would go vertical and when I tried to edit them they didn't look quite to me.

I used wake = fx_wake_xl in the sim.cfg. Thanks CIMOGT. :encouragement:

I'm sorry but that does not happen to me, in any of the tested simulators

No apologies necessary! Most (if not all) of us will gladly accept the work you are doing here. Did i miss where the Nimitz (80's) file is? Or is it not available yet?

I see you are working on a modified Oriskany (and now it appears Hancock as well) in addition to a Kitty Hawk through other threads. Fantastic, and many thanks for your considerable effort on all of these projects. I for one am looking foward to all of them.
Kind regards,

the version of the 80's will be in the cvn-68

Oh Well.....it is what it is. Can't help it if the ship decides it wants to float in the sky or the wake you provided goes vertical.

FWIW, I tried this boat in FSX and the wakes don't go vertical like they do in P3d.

Again I reiteriate from P3D forum about wakes going from the water to heaven:

Wake/ships effect problem?

the solution is
"open the effects fx_wake_s, fx_wake_ss, and fx_wake_l with notepad and check if they contain the parameter:

TempK=107.00
TempRate=0.01

or

TempK=109.00
TempRate=0.01

both will provoke that wakes rise to the sky and they are not a part of a normal fsx wake effect. You can edit them out with notepad, or if you have a back-up overwirte them with the original wake effects.

But after I do the above the texture of the wake is a bit off.

Deck Control

Very nice work with the "Deck Control" gauge.....
Lots of options for add-on to a carrier, a resupply ship, a small defense screen, all on the fly...

Well done....:encouragement:

is the background of the gauge, is inside the cab, copy the cab to the panel directory

It was the way the panel.cfg entry was defined.
No big deal, not needed with background color defined.

"Background_color=0,0,0"

"[Window02]
file=stenis.bmp
file_1024_night=stenis.bmp
size_mm=556,385
position=0
visible=1
ident=MAIN_control
window_size= 0.556, 0.400
window_pos= 0.000, 0.000

gauge00=NIMITZ!NIMITZ.xml, 0,0,0"

thanks, I have planned that, add different options in the class models, such as the resupply ship, but I want to animate the cables that are placed between ships, I am still pending to review that

Nice work; technically they are termed "span wires" often called "high lines". They have automatic tension reels that take out slack or yield slack as the ships roll or deviate slightly in distance abeam. Helmsmen and EOT operators work their butts off, along with the Conning Officer in maintaining relative position. The UNREP ship is the "guide", or formation lead -the Carrier "flies formation" on the guide, maintaining an optimum distance abeam and co-speed using very small RPM and heading changes.

the next will be USS CARL VINSON

The next will be USS CARL VINSON CVN-70

Hello CIMOGT,I just tested out the Stennis a little while go,and ran into some troubles,and bugs first trouble is the deck control doesn't work,I have pushed all three buttons,and no planes appear on deck,the second trouble is the helicopter will appear,but it won't disappear after you turn it off with it's button.Now for the bugs 1.there is a box,or something that is floating in the air over by the working elevator,and bug 2.there is a man floating in the air over by the LSO booth on the rear of the ship,BTW I am using FSX acceleration,is there anyway to just have the elevator work on a timer like on the Javier's Nimitz it does not seem to work in FSX the plane keeps falling thru.Thanks,and nice work so far.

Hi CIMOGT, I most appreciate the work you are doing. One thing that I noticed on STENNIS was the multiple High Visibility paints schemes used for a squadron. Ever since the USN went to Low Visibility paint schemes, each squadron is limited to only ONE High Visibility paint scheme. These aircraft are referred to as the squadron's CAG aircraft. For accuracy you should therefore only have one aircraft per squadron on deck with the colorful High Visibility paint scheme. Again, I really appreciate the new ships. Bill

Has anybody else using this addon with FSX experienced the same bugs,and problems,and is there a fix?
