P-3 Thread continued...

Does anyone know how to switch from Nav 1 and Nav 2? Also is there a fix for the RPM guages as they don't seem to be attached to the engines the needles move with the motion of the plane.

P-3C BMUP from the the secretive USN unit called Bureau of Personnel Sea Duty Component Dallas (Bupers SDC Dallas), often referred to as NAWCS-23.
This unit has been involved in classified test and trials of sensitive equipment like the LSRS pod for littorial radar surveillance. For OPSEC reason all markings except for the US star have been removed (even the serial number). This repaint use the same 2048 master textures as the Bravos.

Hi, fantastic aircraft.

any plans for a new VC been made?

any droppable or payloads going to be added?

if there any way to correct the engine start order. how do u stop single engine on taxi eg normally taxi under two engines.

when does this new model going to be released.

I have a few RAAF repaints that a friend sent to me .. AussieMan now has these in his grip.

any chance of anymore fictional RAF repaints please.

Yeah, the walkways are an easy change. I thought, even if I have a few pics showing that the USN are having a bit darker walkways, that they were light grey as on the Norwegian birds.

I'm afraid I cannot do much about he shine. Its hard coded into the model, and I have no experience with MDL modding.

Ignore my above post..too late to edit it.

Thanks but I don't have shockwave lights so the above wouldn't work. I did manage to get the lights to work but now there is too many and I can't turn the top red beacon off as well as the belly, they are on all the time. I used this from page 15.

No smoke either. Tried every possible config I could find in this thread as well as two zip files.

The smoke effects was using an effect file from Capt Sim C-130. You need CS C130 installed.

My P-3 install must really have problems then, because I do have the CS130, and the smoke effect is not working:frown-new:

It works for me.

If you have the CS130 then you should have in your effects file a file called CS130_smoke.fx which is the file that is being called from the smoke section in the
P-3C aircraft.cfg file here it is again:

[SMOKESYSTEM]
smoke.0=-10.271, -30.017, 10.052, cs130_smoke//fx_smoke_rx
smoke.1=-10.232, -15.416, 10.052, cs130_smoke//fx_smoke_rx
smoke.2=-10.232, 15.506, 10.052, cs130_smoke//fx_smoke_rx
smoke.3=-10.271, 30.002, 10.052, cs130_smoke//fx_smoke_rx

There was originally an effect file called cs130_smoke2; I looked and did not see that file so I just removed the 2 and it became renamed to
CS130_smoke.fx and now when I am airborne and hit the I key (wait for it) the smoke comes billowing out of the rear of four Allison T-56 turbo's.

I had to press and hold the I key till the smoke came out. The smoke would quit for a moment then I repressed the I key (again) till the smoke came out
see pic below (this is a fresh pic)

Hi Andy, good to see I was able to get your problem finally sorted.

There is a version 3.2 in the Warbirds Library here on the SOH.

As for the correct engine start on the version I have installed there are 4 switches on the console between the pilots at the top near the throttles. Click each one of those and you can start the engines. The switch nearest to the pilot is #1 engine. The normal start procedure is 4, 3, 2, 1. I found that to shut down the engines you need to click the switches again.

I have had a look at the RAAF paints and they look really good mate. I cannot see anything wrong at the moment but will spend more time looking at them today.

Thanks for your assistance! Gr8 to have finally sorted the glitches!

Glad you like the RAAF paints.

Quote from Strikehawk on post #316 on page 13 . . . . . .

"Also the proper start sequence was 2,1,3,4 as two was driving the main generator for the bird. "

Here is the WIP beta P-3C BMUP from Bupers SDC Dallas ("NAWCS-23") repaint. I appreciate if the people here on the forum with USN Orion knowledge can look her over.

As already mentioned, this is a rather secretive unit and all serials and decals beside standard danger/warning stencils and the US insignia have been removed. Among many things, this unit was sort of the lab to create the LSRS system working in close cooperation with Boeing, Raytheon and L3.

Can't get the link to work

This is not DX10 compatible right? Got texture issues in DX10.

I have this model working in DX10 with no problems, you will need to do some editing of the MDL.
If you go back to page 3, post 64 of this thread, DaveGW explains how to do it (with pics).
