Well, nobody else biting, Carlo, so I'll venture this is a Nieuport Ni.D 622 C1 of the Marine. Escadrille 3C1. Pleasing design, although a little cluttered.

Central Europe 1919 !

Two still-known persons are on the picture: the entrepreneur of the company that built these planes and a very famous pilot :engel016:
 
The company started to produce airplanes well before the First World War. Its bird-like products became very famous. The aircraft in the picture was built in seven variants. Soon after the picture, the company was liquidated. Several pictures of the craft are on the web.
 
Well thanks entirely to your clue (was getting nowhere with this one) , decided this is a Rumpler - probably D.1 or a variant of same ? Rumpler designations get a bit complex too...

No idea who the gentlemen are.

This has to be the Rumpler D.I in its final form.

Because of the sleek appearance I was looking for a racer and since you specified the year as 1919, I dismissed Germany totally.

The funny thing is that at first glance the person in the middle looked like Ernst Udet and the shape of the wings let me think of a German design.
However, I thought that the person on the picture looked to old to be Udet and I dismissed Germany because of the reasons stated above... :dizzy:
