Virtavia freeware page, rut rhoe..

It looks like its gone.Well, something's there but its defiantly NOT FS-related.
Which brings up another question, did Alpha or Virtavia ever release a CH-47 Chinook for FS2004?

It does look like the Virtavia/Alphasim freeware site has been hacked and that also prevents any means of contacting Phil (the Virtavia owner) as I have sent him two emails to warn him and both have bounced. Does anyone know where Phil hangs out these days (MSFS forums somewhere maybe) so that we can attempt to let him know.

There are very clear laws regarding copyright that say that we can't I'm afraid.The link posted by mav works for me as well, as did a sample download. Maybe we should add all of these files to our own resources library so that they will still be available for posterity ? ? ?

it is clear and understandable that the site here takes all care not to act against the authors directives.
There is just a think what I have a bit a problem to understand:
The files on the Virtavia FREEWARE site are so declared as freeware
They are free of duty for downloading - on a lot of files it directs you to wayback machine and nothing is possible.
They have been commercial files , you had to pay to get them
but when the owner put them on his own site as freeware does than the protection of a commercial product not fall away beeing no longer in act?
Also a lot of older Alphasim files can be found on simviation and could be found at flightsim.com
Might be I have an understanding problem? I am not a jurist (mein Gott nein) So I ask those who have knowledge in these things just to understand.

Copyright is copyright is copyright, Virtavia/Alphasim made the old payware files available as freeware on their own website. That does not mean a third party (either an end user or a forum library) can then take those same files and re-upload them somewhere else. Even though Virtavia/Alphasim has made the files freeware they still retain full rights under the Copyright Acts of numerous countries and only they can give permission for those files to be hosted anywhere else. If a person uploads a freeware aircraft to another site without the express permission of the creator then they are breaking the law plain and simple and if that site then knowingly hosts those freeware files for others to download then they are also breaking the law and could be liable to huge fines.
