F7F Tigercat SOH Project

F7F Tigercat SOH Project cockpits

Hallo Milton,

at first sadly I must tell you that I doesn't have gmax, and I do not have any knowledge about.
but I will have a look on the VC, perhaps I can do some thing.
Here I will show you my first approach of the radar operators panel.
Thanks to Gaucho I hadn't to pass time for the background bmp.
A little problem happens: the frequency sector gauges vor NAV 1 and NAV 2 does not work.
They are as dead. I tried to change the entries in the aircraft cfg - nothing
Ah something else, I didn't find operational gauges which fitt to this ship for the fuel selectors.
Would be nice to get some as they are quiet visible on the pilots cockpit.

Papi,

Very nice work on the radar operator's panel.

I am not asking you to do anything in the VC Papi; I was just "musing" about the overall VC simplicity compared your excellent 2D bmp.

I do not think that the radar operator had Nav1 and Nav2 radios, however I have no issue with using the gauge bmps for appearances. I am attaching pictures I have of the early 2N and late 4N panel configurations.
Since this seat is non-functional for FS, I see no need to use up Sim CPU time to run duplicate gauges that often causes conflicts with the VC gauges.

I patterned the 2D seat panel after the third attachment for simplicity.

F7F Tigercat SOH Project radar operator

Hallo Milton,
yes I agree with you.
So I redid it. The screeny just shows an first aproch of the redo.
There is still some problems.
Do you know where I can get a 24 hour clock gauge ?
On the pictures on the right side it seems to be such a timer.

I have a clock timer that is not 24 hours but something similar I think. Let me look.

Hallo friends,

my first 2D panel for the Tigercat is now finished to be released.
It is really a test panel for the test version of this fine plane created by Milton.
I want to release it with the apropriate test plane paint sheme.
As you will see on the screenshot I tried to do one my self - brrrr - really rudimentary!
The panel is only tested on FS2004, as it is the fs I use.
If someone will send me the repaint for the test plane as it is to be seen on so fine screenshots
I would be very glad, even if they are for FSX -I believe that I can transform them for FS2004.

Better Pic of Panel

I hope you don't mind. The pic of panel is better, no? Just being 'me' (trying to help). Cheers.

F7F Tigercat SOH Project 2panel

Hallo Friends,

every time I believe the panel to be finished - plop I find another detail to work on.
I tried to find to download the flight manual - only to pay.
So perhaps some one can give me some information about the lever and his function
shown in the picture ?

To open the canopy in an emergency

Thank you Milton,
allright, so I think I "can forget" this detail?
I must look forwar now for a part of the job what I feel hard to do: writing a manual
for my panel. As I have integrated some special functions - - -
As any good old sailor I hate administration work LOL LOL

Torpedo Cat !

Now here's something you don't see every day: a Tigercat hauling a torpedo!

The light gleaming on the forward fuselage shows that this bird is glossy Dark Sea Blue, not flat black like Marine night fighters.

The plane belonged to the Naval Aviation Torpedo Unit at NAS Quonset Point, Rhode Island, and was used to develop torpedo launching gear for the Tigercat.

Like the other planes operated by the NATU, the only unit markings would be the letters NATU across the vertical tail.

The photo was scanned from the Images of America book on NAS Quonset Point.

F7F Tigercat SOH Project, fuel pumps

Hallo friends,

my work on the Tigercat's 2d panel going on slowly I still find some problems:
1) does any one have switches for the fuel pumps with sound ?
2) question that Milton perhaps will know best to answer: which fuel lock gauges
to use?
It seems to me that on the lower panel there is at left a switch for the tank selectors,
and right beneath this one a swirch looking very simmilar but called "engine selector.

Happy engineering

Hello Papi :) et al,

Here are some things regarding the fuel system attached, and cockpit pictures and fuel selector bmps on the download link.

http://www.sim-outhouse.net/downloads/SOHTeam/F7Fcockpits.zip

Read the last page carefully. The fuel system fuel flow was revised later to have fuel from all sources flow through the Main tank thereby simplifying fuel management.
It works the same way as the flight sim default flow, outer tanks to inner tanks to main tanks feeding all engines.
(If the main tank was damaged, one could still use the engine and fuel selectors to route flow differently.)

Because of this I have not animated the engine/fuel selectors in the VC.

Good evening Milton,

thank you a lot for the documents!
Piece by piece the puzzle does grow.
And at every document I find new details to rework - why some one is thinking to "the never ending story" ? LOL

Happy engeneering
Yours
Papi

FS9 F7F Series Out Soon

I have started preparing the F7F series for release, mainly for the texture artists here.

This release I guess we have to call a WIP as there are no textures provided, just the painters' texture templates.

All the aircraft have been improved, although much is subtle, but each has been remapped for higher resolution textures.

I did not take the necessary 6-8 weeks to redo the VC as I have too many other things going now. A lot of work for mainly eye candy and I do not have the texture artists to make it as nice as the Republic series (thank you Steve and Nigel for the xp47/72 awesome work :)

Same great sounds by Gary Jones and also Nigel available; select the set you like for each version; both are awesome.

Release by the weekend if all goes well.

EDIT: For those of you who also run FSX, keep an eye out for gman5250's Native F7F series that is getting a lot of attention in the FSX forum. :)

Awesome Milt..........can't wait, the F7F is one of my FAV's!!!!! :ernaehrung004: :medals:

As I prepare the F7F series for a WIP release, gman5250 also is preparing a Paint Kit (Yeeaaaaaa!) for FS9. So I may hold off on release until I have that to share.

Hopefully I will have my work on this done by the weekend or soon thereafter depending on how much time the other projects require.
